I, like many, want aerospace fighters to become a part of the Dark Age universe. To this point, based on what I have read in novels and stuff, aerospace fighters are just as powerful as 'Mechs, just more expensive. They also run on fusion/fisson reactors, so they would be put on a 'Mech-sized base. The cheapest one would cost 120 (points, of course)?
I think this game is lightyears from being balanced. Aerospace fighters is the last thing it needs, as long as new mechanics. It would be opening a can of worms...
Moreover: where would you place aerospace fighters on the table???? the game map is already cramped...
The only flying thing I think this game lacks are LAMS (and I say this because I loved them, even thought I am aware it would just be another different can of worms...)
I agree with Suskis, we need to fix current problems before we even entertain the idea of throwing more units into the mix...i'm not even sure how the Aerospace mechanic could be introduced into the mix without some serious issues.
LAMs? Like the Phoenix Hawk IIC? :classic: That'd be nice, but how would one express their flight form? They'd be similar to VTOLs on steroids, neh?
Another problem is that the battlefield size is way too small for aerospace units. The standard MWDA-battlefield simulates an area of around 400m*400m, this is not enough space for a jet fighter to maneuver or to operate as CAS unit.
Originally posted by Suskis Actually, I believe Jacyn Bell IS a LAM (how could an assault mech be the farthest jumping unit in the game?)[ok,I know the answer: too much beer]
:knockedou
That was actually what i was thinking too.
Assault mech with 12" movement. That moves faster than a lot of light mechs i know of. Maybe the Yu Huangs have special nitro boosters installed in their legs. That would explain it. Yep yep.
Very good points. But what about having them so that they strafe? People have said this before as well, but what if you made so that you send them out every 3 or so turns. In the poll I mentioned replacing the heat dial with a fuel dial. Power jets takes a HECK of a lot more power than myomer.
