This is just a fun little question, whats everyone's favorite mech class and why?

Mine would have to be Heavies followed closly by lights.

I like heavies because they have maneuverability, speed, protection, and can still pack some heavy firepower. Can stand up to an assault mech and out maneuver one too.

Lights follow just because they are fast and annoying and a lot of them are just plain cool!

I'm partial to assault 'Mechs, followed by Heavies. It's all about firepower.

Assults, except sometimes it is fun to run a Firefly with MASC and one jumpjet, with its engion as havie as possible. 201 KMP w/o MACS engaged!

For me, it's Heavies and Mediums.

Heavies because they sacrifice little speed and manouverability, yet still have armor and fire power.

Mediums, for much the same reason, but less so...

My problem with assualts is that sure, you can level a small mech with one shot, but you can be out-maneuvered by a half brain dead cow.:p


I love assualt mechs, but if I had to pick one mech to stick with, it'd probably be from the Heavy Class. With Jump Jets:grin:

Give me a medium mech any time.

Some have as much firepower as mechs in the heavy class, and they still are fast enough to catch a light mech. A fast medium mech can give much needed firepower to an otherwise light lance.


Which brings up the next question, what sort of lance would your mech be in? Mine would be in a Pursuit Lance with a Light rating just under 130 tons for all four or five mechs.

I am all about mediums. They are cheap enough that you can field several for the cost of a heavy/assault, but they are versatile enough for multiple missions.

One of the best examples of this has to be the Vindicator. So many variants, so many GOOD uses. So much firepower.

i hate heavies and mediums. im too specialized to work that way... my mediums and heavies are always either out manuvered or out gunned. i love lights the most. hunter-killer style lights (mmm, solitaire).

I would probably be in a fast response lance or a mobile strike lance. My favorite mech is currently the Tempest and its worked well in that role so far.

Lyran regimental Command Lance. Me in my Thug. Lancemates in a Fafnir, a Thunderhawk, and a Marauder II.

My favorite mech (Dervish) would be in a fire lance, providing
long range fire support.

My 2nd fave mech (Zeus) would be in a strike lance, mixing it up
on the front lines. Supported by the Dervish. ;)

I like Assualt and Heavies... Gotta love mass power.
