When I read the faction abilities given to the Sea Fox, I was more stunned by the not so emphasized fact stating:
Both mechs have no repair markers.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the only non-Bannson mech with no repair markers is the HL Blade(filter done through Battle Planner). As of now, the highest point mech w/o markers is Joyna Simms @ 253(i think...).
Does this mean another faction will be known to have few to no markers like BR? Or are these first Sea Fox mechs simply an exception?
Though many people probably don't see repair used often, my strategy of play allows for one every 2 games or so, which is why the statement perked my attention so.
I'd also like to know what people expect to see from Sea fox(heat patterns, offensive and defensive abilities, many or few SEs etc...)
I think that we will see all kinds of interesting things when more SF units come out. It makes sense that they have a repair ability. Jacob Bannson runs an incredibly large mercantile operation, so thusly his faction would be easy to repair because of the abundance of parts he is likely to have. The Sea Foxes, being the most merchant-minded clan, would have the same ability. Also, due to the fact that their machines would be an amalgamation of parts, I think that Sea Fox units will have very different SE loadouts from piece to piece.
About the offensive capabilities, from what I have read the Sea Foxes are slow to anger, but once they get going they can be fierce fighters. The Sea Foxes have always been my second-favorite clan (behind Ghost Bear), so I hope good things will happen with this faction. I will sleep on what else I think the SF pieces will have and get back to you in the morning. G'night all.
Well, the former Sea Fox - Diamon Sharks - Sea Foxs again were very merchant driven clan, but also a very high-tech one. So, I hope to see the following things:
a) Good repair capability
b) LOT of Special Equipment
c) Good range with multiple SE: AP, Streaks, Anti-Personal (anybody remembers the Piranha?)
d) Avg stats: not so high as the Falcons, maybe like the Spirit Cats (9 to 10 attack, but with lot of IT, not too high defense, but with decoy and so on)
Another thing that I believe will happen is that Sea Foxes units will be mostly mechs and vehicles, since his No-formations ability makes infantry almost useless..
As with BR, we've learned that no markers comes at the cost of short lifespans, i hope this stays true, particularly with units that can repair themselves.
I was very disappointed that it wasn't the shyft ability from MK. That would've be helpful for the mercs and gave them the chance to not have to flesh out another faction.
Quite frankly I hope the SF stay "super-rare" and are like the elite of the elite. I know it doesn't really fit the universe or anything cause Sea Fox isn't an almost mystical force or anything....But wouldn't it just be cool to have a faction where every unit is amazing but super-rare? Sure the rich guys that can spend alot would have them all probably, but it'd still be fun to see if you could take them down! And on a rare occasion someone at your venue pulls one....everyone tries trading for it and has a hell of a time battling against it in a fight.
I remember when I first started mech at the beginning of FFE. I didn't know that they had an official site (or daughter sites) with all the stats and makes on them. It was interesting to see what you'd pull and what great mech there was. When my friend pulled the Black Knight....geez. Oh the memories :-(
