how does the battlemaster thing work? do you need a venue? how many peopel need to go? do you have to sella quota of cases to get rewards? do you have to organise tournaments?
just wondering, cos i have what could loosely be described as a venue. But due to the utterly inebriated state we play MW in, i wouldnt recommend it to minors though lol
Are there any constraints on the size of the venue? we have 1 board, 4ft x 4ft and about 6 players who frequent it. Only problem is is that its an annex to my house, and it would be kinda iffy letting random people in..... does it have to be a commercial property?
1st off, a Venue must be a public place. That means Joe Schmo can walk in off the street and play if he so desires. If you try to sign up as a Game Club then you have to meet in a public place (library, etc).
You don't need a Venue or GC to become a Battlemaster, but to be able to run the games you would have to meet the WK criteria for either. Also the Venue or GC have to be approved by WK.
Also to sign up to be a BM you must be sponsored by a Level 2 or higher BM.
You get rewards for BMing games based on the amount of players/game and total players for the month.
As the BM you are responsible for setting up the event times and running the games per WK rules & standards.
I sincerely doubt that WK would approve of having a Venue or GC that has alcohol around.
the public place is doable - i dont think it would be good to have "jo schmo" running around in my house lol, and even if we did, the alcohol is non-negotiable, there are 4 male students living with me. we have 2 fridges - 1 for food, 1 for booze......
how often do most venues play? is it once a month, or once a week? we only play ad-hoc, and never really visit another venue.
i shouldnt think getting sponsored by another BM is a difficulty, there is another venue about an hour from me. never been though.
Your best bet is to frequent that venue a couple times and see how things are run. A venue must be a commercial store front. A game club can be run from any public location but you must have a minimum number of players (I think its 8, the approved play document on WK's website will have that answer).
Sponsorship can be a touchy subject. Since the sponsoring BM is responsible for the new folks, they may not sponsor you unless you have demonstrated yourself in some capacity.
