we all know that some units are signifintly better than others, I'm trying to compile a list what units are the best.

Basically every tournament winning army has at least 1 of these units.

DF Donars
SS Balac
SS Arrow 4
DF ATV (DF Trikes close second)
DF Maxim (expecilly with
SW Repair transorts (forget name)

Are there any units that I'm missing?

And I would like to know at what point do you concider an army cheesy?

Example: I concider 2 ATVs reasonable, but 4 gets a little much. 3 can be concidering what else is there.

Funny, I win a lot and I dont have any of those units in my armys.
It is also true that I dont play in the land of cheese and we( the people I play with) do enjoy the use of AT LEAST one mech per army, but thats just us. :) ;)

Most of the people who I play with are like us, and avoid abusing these, but there is always that 1 person who showes up with stuff like this.

His last army (600 Pts) was something like 6 ATV (or trikes) 4 SS Hoverbikes, SS Balac, SS arrow 4, and the SS Cyclops, SW AA, and a second arty.

Not exactly what I call an army you play with for "fun".

I was also called cheap by another (Though he was a little cranky from being up for 30 hours, same as me) for using 2 DF Raiders, Shin, 2 ATVs, and a partisan, then added a maxim and a gunso (jes2), and a shandra, to up the army from 450 to 600.

Are DF Raiders concidered Elite/cheap?

Funny, I play in a land of power players and I don't always have to have those power pieces.

This list is gettting out of date. I would go with the following 5:

BR Sprint - command and infiltrate
BR combat eng (LE) - command at a give away price
HL ATVs - they just don't go away
SS TAC - the new improved "tank" drop. Can be used individually or in formation.
SH Aesir - the only defense against the dread VTOL

Most winning arming have some combo of these units. These are simply the best in class. The DF Donar would probably be #6.

One-Eyed Jack and Arnis Drummond are power pieces.

DF Raiders see a lot of play (very cheap bumper bots)

SS hoverbikes

(ever notice how many of the power pieces are SwordSworn?)

SW Kodiak. WIth 360 degree arc and 6 clicks till his sweet spot, he takes FOREVER to kill.

Odd... we never see those pieces around here.

Personally, having started to rank between 1st and 3rd in our venue, I play strictly faction pure. My recent army that does quite well is Catalina Trujillo, my 4 Salamanders, 2 miniguns and a ATV in formation with each other, and whatever other Liao infantry I can fit in, topping out at about 15 pieces of infantry, with some usually deploying from one or two Shuns.

I personally don't see the Schmitt being a threat, out side of a maxim. Its the maxim thats the threat.

While I'm just a starting newbie, and so don't have the world's best army, all the big power players are always afraid of my Elite DI Schmitt Tank- it can damage even their super-armys if left unbased.
