I want to know what factions like each other or are allied together.

Any help would be great.

If memory serves the wolf's dragoons mercenarys are working for the spirit cats. also there was something a while back about SC and DF entering into an alliance.

nova cats live in a region at the border of draconis combine.

spirit cats are descendants from nova cats, where dragon'f fury are related to draconis combine.

i dont know of any information that relates kitties and dragons in time of dark age, thou kitties and wolves dragoons ran few join actions.

it is unlikely that kitties and doggies would be friendly to each other.

Here is the political picture as far as I understand it:

- Swordsworn has declared for House Davion.
- Spirit Cats have declared no allegiances.
- Highlanders have declared for the Republic.
- Dragon's Fury have declared no allegiances (Leaning towards House Kurita).
- Bannson's Raiders are in affiliation with House Liao.
- Stormhammers have declared no allegiances (leaning towards House Steiner)
- Steel Wolves have declared no allegiances.
- Clan Wolf are not currently "in play".
- Clan Jade Falcon have declared no allegiances.
- Clan Sea Fox have declared no allegiances.
- Clan Nova Cat are not currently "in play" (allied with Kurita).
- House Liao is currently in affiliation with Bannson's Raiders
- House Kurita are not currently "in play" (allied with Clan Nova Cat).
- House Steiner are not currently "in play".
- House Davion are not currently "in play".
- House Marik are not currently "in play".

I remember in Danni Haags dossier, it says that the Arbalest was a gift from the Spirit Cats, so the DF and SC are on good terms. That is why there has not been a campaign with those two fighting I think. Works fine for me, as they are my favorite faction.

I'm still unclear on the concept. Why did WK go with 'baby' factions instead of the real ones inthe first place? Why would so many houses and clans tolerate these potential liabilites? I'f they gain worlds, the house/clan sees none of the resource gains, but they sure get a black eye for being responsible for the agression even if they aren't. Historically, both in the real world and in the BT fluff, houses and clans would form insurgency units or covertly fund and equip rebel elements. (Davions were the most successful at this.) But these are declared groups, not shadow ops organisations. reading the fluff, virtually none of the 'sponsor' houses actually sponsors or even trusts these upstarts.
And how come there are not splinter factions? groups that disagree with policy or purpose of the main faction? Yeah, you say the kitties are a splinter and the Hammers are at odds with the Lyrans. But none are in open confict. This is rediculous. They have major weaponry, and don't seem to have any quams about using it. So who (and WHY) are they all fighting for? Why the homoginized similarity between groups? Lack of imagination?

Ok, so is this right?

Highlanders are allied with the Republic.
Liao is allied with Bannsons.
Dragon's Fury is allied with Spirit Cats.
Jade Falcon is allied with no one.
Steel Wolves are allied with no one.
Stormhammer is allied with no one.
Swordsworn is allied with no one.
Mercenaries are hired guns. Will work for anyone.

DF is NOT with the spirit cats, and Danni's Arbalest came from the nova cats, not the spirit cats. And why does everyone claim the Dragoons are with the cats?

Isn't SwordSworn on good terms with the Republic as well? I thought RotS had alliances with HL and SSw. From this could we then assume that SSw and HL are on speaking terms?

Another thing to look at might be "Who really, really hates each other?"

DF and HL hate each other because Tara Campbell hates Katana Tormark.

RotS and Liao hate each other b/c Liao is invading the Republic.

RotS and SW hate each other because SW tried to take over Terra (with help from "Paladin Ezekial Crow").

SC and SW seem to hate each other from the campaigns I've seen...someone stated one was a warden and the other a crusader clan, but I'm not sure about this. I know Clan Wolf was split half warden, half crusader and SC doesn't seem to be trying to act as any sort of warden group.

In the book featureing the SS, they declared for House Davion and broke their ties with the Republic.

They really hate each other becaue House Liao are murdering treacherous bastages. But I digress...

RotS officially does not recognize any faction except for the Highlanders, and they don't really recognize them as a splinter faction. They simply recognize them as the legitimate authority in that prefecture, which still reports to the Republic.

The Spirit Cats are neither Warden nor Crusader. They are second generation Inner Sphere Nova Cat descendants. They are no more Nova Cats, then Kerensky's Steel Wolves are Wolves.

@General - You are right on all accounts except for the SC/DF ties. They are not allied. That and the fact that Swordsworn have declared their allegience to House Davion, which--for all intents and purposes--is irrelevant since Davion is not currently "in play".

Also, Stormhammers want to rejoin Steiner, but have been rebuffed so far (read the current book for insight into that).

Keep in mind that "hate" is a very strong word in politics and warfare. Hate blinds you. Most factions don't get along, but we've only really seen naked aggression from Bannson's Raiders, House Liao, Clan Jade Falcon and the Steel Wolves. The Swordsworn have (for their own selfish reasons) been fighting on the side of the Republic against Liao, but do not recognize them as the legitimate government on planets they "occupy".

There are a few misconceptions that ARE floating around...

Highlanders and RotS are allied
Bannsons Raiders and House Liao are allied
Swordsworn and RotS are tentatively allied at the moment
Dragon's Fury are backed by House Kurita
RotS and House Steiner are allied

these are the only alliances we actually know about. The Spirit Cats and Dragons Fury are in no way allied, in fact relations have soured recently between the Nova Cats and Draconis Combine (the Nova Cats have gone deeper in to isolation) and the only connection the Spirit Cats have with the Wolf's Dragoons is that they had captured Outreach, which was historically the Dragoons' "home base" so to speak since the 4th succession war, until the Wobbies nuked it to a cinder.


Conversly, those who are currently actively warring with each other...

RotS vs House Liao, Steel Wolves, Dragon's Fury, Clan Jade Falcon, Stormhammers, Bannson's Raiders (though technically every faction with the exception of the Highlanders are in conflict ideologically with the Republic at the moment)

That is the 'no speculation' list. There are more than a few partially-uncovered and false leads for alliances and old hatreds, but they are either too minor to mention, or not yet specifically addressed in fiction.

Another note to address the Spirit Cats players who harbor any illusions as to their goals, specifically - look at them as a non-entity. They have declared no alliegence, and bear no hatred. Refugees, they see their future not with the Republic or the Nova Cats.
