This thread is for discussing the attributes of any and all Mechwarrior Dark Age units from all the different booster series, including those that are retired or are about to be retired. Do not continue this type of discussion in "Dereck Hasbani's Atlas-Pro's and Con's."
To start off, let's discuss the Hatchetman from Fire for Effect.
well I think the dragon's fury has the best paint job...
and I was wondering? Why can't you throw the hatchet?? hmm,....
like uhm.. 4 inch range.. 3+(1d6/2) damage ap?oh and one use of course :)
Dagger Di Jones has to be the best Hatchetman mech ever put out & heres why......
4 damage Close Combat attack w/Rapid Strike
9'' JJ Movement
9 Attack
20 Defense
very friendly heat dial and that famous Bannson's repair ability all for 141 points makes this a very solid light mech for any good BR army.
Now I always liked the Hatchetman Mech but we should remember it was only a Light Mech designed by the Lryan Commonwealth to be mainly used as a Urban Warfare Mech. Which is 1 of the reasons it was slow for a Light Mech. That being said the HL U & most of the FFE Non Hatchetman Mechs were a little to slow for this game. Plus IMO the FFE Hatchetman's were a very ugly resculpt of the original Mech that did not have to have been done. Why did they feel the need to re-arm them with energy weapons to replace the AC/10 that the Hatchetman carried.

Actually the Hatchetman is a 45 ton mech which is classified as a Medium mech. I love Dagger Di, I won several matches with her shortly after she was released. I remember once I rapid striked a SS Gnome that was foolish enough to base her by itself. Next turn that Gnome was mush. LOL. She also DFA'd a full health Kendrik and trashed him.
As for the best of the hatchetmen, I would have to say that goes to Tomoko Nagasawa. 20 DV with evade, 10 AV with IT and 4 primary damage with HTH. I just obtained him after a year long search. Can't wait to play him.
Oppsie guess I should look at my TRO books a little more often
Yes I will give you that Tomoko is good I guess in my case it comes down to sculpts, love the DA one's hate the FFE one's. Also how cool would either Tomoko or Dagger Di be now with AoD's new Close Combat Assault Order. *

Actually both Dagger Di and One Eye'd Jack have one repair marker about half way through their dial. This is still alot better (if you like repairing) then alot of other mechs but not really up to Banson's par.
The hatchetman mechs are iinteresting to play. I have gotten some very positive reults using a SC hatcetman and Zahbita Nostra together. The only thing that bites about them is that the stat on H2H weapon usualy has a 3 on it. that means if I roll i have a 50% chance of doing less damage then if i just used the strait value. it should be like rotem friedburg where a h2h weapon stat has a value of 1. it reduces cost and makes a player more likely to use that roll.

That's exactly what I hate about Tomoko Nagasawa's Hatchetman.
Come on, it has 6 Clix of Hand-To-Hand- Weapon the first 3 with clix and the second 3 witch 3 clix of damage. Than it loses it's Hand-To-Hand Weapon before it's Damage Value drops to 2.
So why HTH Weapon at all?!?

If the H2H weapon is a 3 then you have a 33% chance of rolling less than a 3 (not 50%).

Actually, it's a bit less then that. On a roll of three you do the same amount of damage you would have done anyway so it's only on a roll of 1 or 2(33.33% chance)that you actually do less damage. That's the one thing that I don't like about Tomoko. With his H2H on his 4 primary, you only have a 33.33% chance of doing more damage.
I'm trying to collect all the Hatchetmen. Since Dark Age hasn't put out a Vindicator, the Hatchetman was the next best thing(they're both 45-tons). Personally, I like the Spirit Cats' Hatchetman's paint job better. But I do agree about the H2H, although usually I'll risk dealing lower damage by using it. Anybody have an opinion on the inclusion of IndustrialMechs in an army?

Yeah, don't! I have had people say that the mining mechs are the best of the ICE mechs, which may be true but it does not mean that they can hold up against a decent battle mech.
