Tired of the hype of set retirement? want to stop this madness right now?
Then look no further Join me in the MWR (Mech warrior Revolution)
Heres the best way to fix this big problem and keep all the players happy
step one.
Get you local venue to stop doing the "Type II" Support and have them ONLY do unrestricted. start including a charge of 5-10 bucks to cover all cost of this plan
Step two
Get said venue to establish this simply points format and have them also pop open about 2 boosters for something to give every one.
step three
the system is 10 points for first 8 for second 6 for third 5 for forth and so on and so forth. have them run this for about 3-6 month and at the end the player with the most points get half a case of boosters for the newest set and
then run down as 12 to second 6 to third and 3 to forth 2 to fifth 1 to six.
step four
GO ouT AND PLAY for this to work you must begin playing every chance you get Lets do what the CBT players did for it when FASA ran it into the ground lets keep our community alive and thriving. Best way to do this is to give players something they never would get a chance at a BIg payoff.
Join my my brothers and sister in Renouncing this garbage and support the Revolution lets show wizkids that we will no longer tolerate there #### and will take matters into our own hands VIVA THE REVOLUTION! =)
eh... simple because we dont like wizkids. we love the game but dislikes its makers ####. we want players to come for fun and for a chance to leave with something for next week. we want players to come and leave after a few months with a big payoff. but basically show wizkids that they cant do what ever they like as the players will simply do something else. this revolution is meant to give players something to look forward to other then the chance that they might walk away with a new mech... which btw is keeping many new players for joining as they think they will never win one from the vets. now i said something that when i read it came out completely wrong. i meant in step one get your local venue to stop honoring the type II setup I.E. ignore set retirement and putting in your own house rules instead of wizkids. basically winner takes the big prize but with getting you venue to up the ante the losers all can walk away with some nice singles or a blind round robin where you open a pack and the next up takes a piece. ether way if you want to get more people in gets your venues to have a big payoff for its players and see if you cant get more people back..
[Ya i know this sounds nuts but it looks like over 3/4th of my venues player would be coming back and playing once again so i say revolution if this looks like it will work so well in my area it might help others... btw we went from 16 players a week to zero.. now there looks to be about 12 players thinking about getting back in when this starts in my area so.. as i said it might give others an idea ]
actually there is a possible flaw here.
If your players are buying 2 boosters per game, that will be understood as SALES. So Wizzers will say see people are buying or stuff SUCCCES!
just a thought
If they're getting back into MW, and you have not yet told them about your "revolution," then they must be coming back for the way the game already is or, more likely, Age of Destruction (which you erroneously refer to as "type II"). Are you actually so ignorant to believe that they will listen to your halfassed idea of a "revolt" against the exact thing that at least half of them are likely coming back for? Or do you lack basic observation skills and the ability to deduce a rather obvious likelyhood?
"Type II" is restricted format not really AoD but any type that bans sets i consider type II.
"Revolution" was more or less a joke what i mean is simply im tired of people whining and complaining. if you want to fix it heres what to do IMHO.
1. Ignore set retirement and make your own house rules.
2. Implement some sort of a system that rewards players for a small monitory contribution and would greatly reward the player who comes the most and does the best over a period of time. HENCE brake open a box or two of a booster and give the pieces to players who didnt win as a door prize. not each player buy a booster or two this was not my idea this is close to the idea my venue is going to implement next month or at the beginning of the year and its starting to rekindle interest in my area NOT AoD. We would use a combination of AoD and house rules that balance out the game play. I dont care if Wizkids make a profit off us buying booster in a way yes that gives them more money to keep producing stuff.. THE IDEA ISNT TO GIVE THEM LESS MONEY BUT TO PUT A DENT IN THE WAY THEY RUN THERE TOURNAMENTS! i just want to start showing them that people would continue to buy and play but not the way they want us to. MAYBE JUST MAYBE IF ENOUGH PEOPLE DID IT THEY WOULD START FALLOWING SUIT! ill come back and retype out my entire freaken argument after lunch im tired and really hate the fact that ive quiting smoking..
Just a question, are you advocating keeping the WK provided prizes and handing them out in unrestricted games, or going to a totally unrestricted format where the players and venue chip in the prizes?
It is based on the supposition that Wizkids actually cares about how tournaments are played. Which is an unporven assumption.
It is also based on the asseumption that venues do not charge to play to begin with. Again, another unfounded assumption. By suggesting $5 to play, are you implying that those which already charge $5 should raise it to $10? If so, are you not pricing new, younger players out of the markets.
It also demonstrates a fundamental lack of knowledge of the basic concepts of business - the laws of supply and demand. This plan does nothing to shift the curves, so it will have no business impact. No business impact, no business reaction.
Part of your suggestion is done at my venue. We are charged 5$ to play. With that money, the battlemaster buys boosters that are randomly given to players at the event. In my opinion, its better to get the prize now then in six months.
As for as playing in unrestricted only, it your call. But I would make sure your players are happy with it.
btw: for now, there is still prize support for unrestricted
I really dont care if wizkids cares about how they run there games i knew about that before i wrote this thats why i wrote Maybe very doubtful but maybe it would.. heres how this works
you pay x amount of money to get in
you play and at the end of 3 rounds you get a point total for he match. The BM opens one to two paks of booster (Depending on the amount of players) and hands out them as runner up prizes. now at the end of 3-6 months the player with the most points takes half a case home. second takes half of the rest and they are finally split down to the final 4. its ment to get more players in so that they can get a #### load of prizes at the end of the points run.. then guess what it starts all over again for the next round. yes in the end we dont get offical rankings from wizkids but who cares about that? i just dont want this game to die i enjoy playing it too much and all the #### thats happend lately is killing it off faster then a unwanted pregnancy during prom night going down a toliet. yes is that harsh but its true and the moment i heard about this and saw that people where responding very possativly to it in my area i thought that maybe it could get more players for other venues. if you want to play for points and ranking at wizkids site ok great have fun watch the ship sink.
If you want to get a community that will
thrive then take drastic actions.
To me providing prizes at the game and a huge payoff for the players that show
up the most and get decent showings will take the most in the end. i think this will keep this game aflot but as i see it and from the general distain of the meembers of this forum alone the ship is taking water and everyone arguing about how to plug it.. If we only argue IT WILL SINK if we do something about it then this game could survive. the question is do you want this game to make it or would you like to watch it go up in flames?
How about ignoring tournaments entirely if set retirement ticks you off that much, and just have casual play days, campaigns, large format games.
Really, do it first and report the sucess (or not) to the realms, and see what can be made of it. Just don't spout off about some *s######* revolution, do something and let the results speak for themselves.
