I just got my hands on Mikhail yesterday, and I was wondering how best to use him, since his defense sucks. I only plan to use him in bigger games where he'll have support from another 'mech.

That's just it. I fully think he's a backup/mop-up mech. I like his pulse for 6, but it's risky when he's got a lousy 8 AV. Strictly support/mop-up duty. Keep him away from infantry, he'll be capture bait.

Difficult one to use, but at least it's a better 'Mech than the Swordsworn or Liao Koshi. Maybe you can use it to tempt your opponent to storm that SH Uziel of yours, then make him regret it with your support units.

too tall for a golf tee, too ugly as a fishing lure, not aerodynamic enough for a skeet...

How about as a 170 point piece of blocking terrain? With a 17 defense, he can certainly count as at least 170 points of opposing VC1 or 2, depending on whether or not the opponent actually has at least one Foot-based infantry tp Capture with, or just kills it to put you out of your misery.

I'm a Hammer, and I hate this piece.

@ ixnaydude Mikhail does not have pulse he has armor piercing at 6 inches and an av of 10 you are thinking of tracey crowler the sword sworn uziel.
as far as using him I did that once in the first army i made after falcons prey( i pulled him in a booster).

the amy worked but to be honest mikhail was destroyed every time. The idea was to base every thing and move mikhail up to dfa for 6 then run baclk and get repaired by the j37 . against a fatty tank drop the behemoth first to soften your target. I learned a valuable lesson that day...... they only way to hurt your opponent with thacker is to pick up the piece and throw at your opponent. Sorry i have to agree with raven , horrible piece.

The best way to use him is to pop out his dial, and replace it with almost ANY other dial. As an aside, I tried a DF Centurion dial, and Thacker with a 19DV, 10IT, Evade, and (on Thackers base) Grapple was sweet. And maybe even worth the 170 at that point. (The soon to retire DF Cent was 153pts IIRC.)

But barring that, he's landfill. :)
