I have seen a lot of people saying the new game is good and so forth so I decided to give it a chance ordered a starter and oh 12 boosters. I am still upset over set retirement because now I will have limited pieces but oh well. The main thing that got me back for those still wondering if they should come back is the mech customizing. I ordered the "x-axis" from Xbox magazine it came and looked good. PLus the some new rules appeal to me such as the decoy is useful against Armor Piercing.
Yeah, I hate set retirement, too. It almost drove me to give up on MW. In fact, I got into the SW minis game pretty heavily for a while there.
BUT-
The new rules are much better, and the new battlefield options are sweet. No more "optimized" super VTOL or Warpog armies - my opponent won't know if I'm playing storm or swamp or what! The new rules also let us pack more action into 50 minutes. Move and shoot works well.
Everybody hates change, From work enviroment to play time. When DA came out everyone was limited to certain figures.
We must all come together and make AOD feel welcome.
I too have returned to the fold as it were.
Set retirement does not bother me that much as i play casually.
That would change if there were a venue where i live.
All in all i am very happy with the changes as a whole.
I'm in the same little leaky rowboat with goodtimes.
I got into SWM while the jury was still out on AoD, but that game doesn't have the depth this one does, nor have I dropped $2700 on it as I have this one. {Twice, but that's a sob story no-one wants to hear.}
AoD has passed the minimum requirements I have for getting my hard earned gaming dollar. Barely.
{Hint to WK: More work is needed. DON'T blow us off. Maybe some playtesting BEFORE production in the future, continue to fix /tweak the rules, STOP making 24 defense tanks when 'mechs have an average of 16-20, and TRY to balance the factions. A little. Don't just look at this as a dying franchise you can wring a few more bucks out of before giving up and moving on. Love corrosion.}
