Ah yes, probably the best time to 'drop in' on a member of the Amaterasu :).
Now, how do I convince the current First Prince to woo a Combine princess so us Guards can get some R&R , and ermm...., get to know them better.
Smart chap, though, not taking anything for granted and walking in with powered armour....

Looking at that katana I still wouldn't feel too safe even in battle armor. That's probably why the battle armored guy stoped some distance away from the bad :).

I have noticed the lack of showing 'Mechs on the covers of DA novels a bit intriguing

They put up some illustrations that do look pretty real, and if you ask me, the number of women gracing the covers has increased too.
Still, I agree, I'd prefer an assault mech with maybe some battle armour jumping around on the covers.

What kind of armor is that?? Oh and that armor is well inside the striking distance of that katana. Samurai could get really good reach with that thing.
I haven't read a BT novel in 17 (??) years, this cover might have me picking it up.

I bet my lunch that's the Bounty Hunter in his special suit of armor, not someone in any kind of BattleArmor.

after looking at the cover in detail, i have come to the following conclusions

1) the katana the woman is holding isn't an ordinary katana. that is a VIBRO katana. meaning, that BA is in some serious trouble if she decides to take a swing at him/her. vibro katana's were used on huntress by the DEST teams. imagine a squad of 4 Kage suits going against an entire complex of elemental BA's with nothing but their built in Anp guns, and a Vibro katana.. only 2 of the DEST got out alive.. they decimated the Elementals. nuff said for the vibro katana i'd say.

2) that is either the Bounty Hunter in his custom suit, or that is the Oni Battle Armor. quite possably it could be a custom configuration of the Oni that the bounty hunter wears. have to grab a copy of this and read it to find out i guess.

3) the woman is kneeling/sitting up on a bed, wich lends credance to the thought that the person in the BA caught her by surprise, or was bringing an important comunication. Samurai, when woken up suddenly have a reflex action of grabbing and drawing their sword. this guy/gal is in for a world of hurt if he makes a wrong move.

my guess would be this is a face off between the Bounty Hunter and Duchess Katana Tormark. it'd make sense, as she -is- a faction head.

Regardless, this is a nice find. Better cover art by far than some of the books have had. This truly is the novel coming down the pipe that I can't wait for and I'm not even a fan of DF, just love Ilsa's writing.

I really, really, hope that is the Bounty Hunter! :devious: That would be sweet to have his storyline continue more into the MW era.
