Hello there everyone.....
After seeing what Wizkids selection of Gear that was in the new AOD. :nervous:
I was browsing over the collection of old Classic Battletech books.
I was wondering what other "Gear" the guys/gals from wizkids were going to come up with the next expansion.
Now I know the Classes will be changed for things like pulse. Making it for all the weight classes. :classic:
But other things like Active Probes, C3 Computers, A-pods, & Laser Heat sinks started dancing in my head. :p
What do you think the next type of Gear will be.
Maybe Endo steel might be the next big thing????

Yes Your got some will be putinto all Classes but even some of the SE card will not be put all Classes. Example Probably Repair.
But I want See SF with some MEch that can take gears. Josem Hawker with pulse if it was legal could deal 18 damage in one turn Pulse and Salvager.
I like Camo, Inflitrate, JJ, Command, Bypass.Vent +1. No SHutdown rolls.
i can't see how you're going to factor Endo Steel and XL engines into gear ... :) too much to do with them . Reduce gear cost ? Increase speed , add repair markers , ...
How about those shields from ragnorak? the one where u can raise the defense of one mech to 102387934579823749875 for the next round at zero heat?
or the lava gun where u can like reach forward, tear off the arms rip off the base and dial from the target with a successful and declare that unit out of play?
dun mind me, obviously im just trying to get some cheap thrills, knowing the general attitudes of proper cbt and aod players on these boards.

TURRET: Give this mech a 360 degree firing arc on the selected weapon.
Must be placed on either a energy or ballistic weapon. May be used with other special equipment.
MASC: This mech may walk at twice its movment or run at three times its movement value. When doing so, roll a die. On a 1; Remove this equipment, deal 1 point of pushing damage, Also, this mech's speed value is now half.
Flamers: Self explanatory.
Jump Jets: Self explanatory.
Double Heat Sinks: Increase this mech's vent value by 1.
TAG: Any friendly unit may use this unit's LOS when using a ballistic attack.
A-Pods: For every enemy infantry unit in base contact with this mech on your turn roll a die. On 3-4 that infantry unit takes 1 click of damage. On 5-6, deal 2.
How about an equipment that can destroy other equipment or pilots.
Sniper - (ballistic attack only) if the target is a mech and it is a ranged attack (most have line of site), if you roll a critical hit destroy the pilot on this mech (if applicable). The pilot card is removed and losses all the abilities that pilot gave to that mech :knockedou
sabatoge - if there is any equipment cards attached to the target, if you roll a critical hit destroy any 1 equipment card attached to it. :devious:
heh - the look on your opponents face as he watches his pilot or equipment get destroyed :surprised :p
AP Pods would be easy to do, but with infantry taking damage when a mech breaks away anyway, would you really want to spend an order and equipment cost doing the same thing? Maybe if it did 2 damage in a 360 arc, and was single use, it would make sense.
C3 computer could be represented by the "firing formations out of base contact" mechanic like the Liao/RotS SA, but then it would have to be installed on every mech that wanted to take advantage of it.
LBX Ammo might be interesting. +1 to AV, in exchange for -1 to ballistic damage.
Omnimech boarding points - gives the mech a transport rating of 1, only for use with "battle armor" units.

Isn't that what homing becon is? I mention this because I was thinking the same thing just the other day, some sort of spotter equipment to call in shots, but that is what homing becon does already. Perhaps make an equivalent for energy attacks that light up a target with lasers ala Powel "If you look here, you can see the jeep about to cross the bridge..."

I'd just like to see a single use Apod. Like you say, whaps all infantry in base to base. Probably a ballistic attack, but I'd really like to see this.
