Now, we all know that BattleMechs and ProtoMechs are powered by fusion engines, right? But those are too large to power Battle Armor, and I don't think your standard car battery would power Battle Armor either.
So what does power Battle Armor in the BT/MW universe? Anyone know?
Fusion's not the only advancement in the Battletech universe... there are many power storage advancements, things like Jumpship and gauss rifle capacitors. I believe it's high capacity batteries or power cells that keep the battle armor hopping.
1) myomers - game changing technology, require much less energy to create the same 'pull' as hydraulics. All elemental battle armor uses myomer tech.
2) high capacity power cells - powring most weapons (like man-pack gauss rifles), and providing power to battle armor as well.
3) Kinetic power reduction- The motion of walking and manuevering a battle armor suit provides some feedback through piezo-electric compression on the myomer suit. This generates small amounts of electricity, which is fed back to reduce the power drain on the suit.
Battle armor is powered by a miniaturized Lithium Fusion Battery that can provide power for 24 hours of light combat operations, and can be expanded to 72 hours of non combat operations. Combat operations usual entangles full sensor and weapons power and medium fire rate. Excessive use of jump jets and near constant weapons fire reduces power levels to approximatly 4 hours of Front Line combat operations
