Hi, Im still new to MW:DA and unsure about the right use of the different units in combat situations.
So hereīs my question, it would be nice if someone could help me:
I play JF only and fielded a Winston Combat Vehicle together with three Fenrir BAs in a formation. I used the Winston because I lack of better tanks... :knockedou
I wanted this formation to go in front, direckt attacking enemy mechs with the good AV and later damage of the Winston.
Total failure...
So, what is the right use of heavy tanks? The Winston is not the strongest, but I think it is used like all other ballistic tanks, isnīt it?
Should tanks be used to go for mechs, or better hunt enemy infantry?
Please help me, how can I use heavy tanks, or the Winston especially more succesfull in the Future?
The Winston is a bit different because of the fact that it carries the homing beacon SE for it's first few clicks. This allows it to mark the unit it attacks, letting other ballistic attacks ignore blocking terrain. This ability lends the Winston to more of a support role early in it's dial. Later on, it's damage value increases (I believe, I'm not terribly familiar with the JF version), but it's attack value drops. This is when it would be good to formation it with other units and go on the attack with it. Early on though, use it to allow your mechs with long range ballistics to attack without fear of return fire. Good luck!
The Sekhmet is a perfect indirect firing platform, with Streaks and Reactive Armor. You are immune to almost all non-AP arty, and all non-JF, non-AP indirect fire.
The Kelswa is a rock, with its 24 defence. It is almost immune to assault orders because of its massive defence, but artillery will ruin it unless infantry are in base contact to allow it to avoid pushing damage.
The Hanse is a study in contrasts. The damage output is phenominal, the attack is nice, and the defence is good with Reactive armor. The range is pitiful, but its defensive abilties give it some protection. Take some JF Sniper Teams with it to help survive AP artillery long enough to get off its shots.
Big tanks for JF should be the third wave of attack. The first should be fast moving basers to hold an enemy down so as to set up either long range attacks, or MDFA's, which is the second wave. Then the tanks can follow up on the now weakened enemy units.
Either that, or use the tank can provide a strong point of defence if an enemy force is closing quickly.
