Usually I play Liao, but I am branching out there trying to create some new armies with the pieces out there. Here is my plan for storyline play. A lot of people play with at least 1 big mech if not two, and hopefully this is a nightmare for them.
JF Goshawk - 130
War College of Goshen - 14
JF Long Tom - 74
JF Hadur - 50
MERC Zahn - 30
JF Cardinal - 39
JF Kite x4 - 140
JF Sylph - 30
JF Undine x3 - 60
JF Gnome x2 - 36
Build total - 599
Strategy: My artillery is used to keep the big boy moving/possibly soften it up. I need to keep the big mech out of hindering to keep it open to my kites, and out of water so I can heat the bad boy up. Once my opponent's mech is in position, my kites move in with their ram/flamers. Objective is to get their mech shut down. Once that occurs I have 2 capture teams: 3 undines in the zahn and 2 gnomes in the cardinal. The sylph is just a harasser and my Goshawk is their as a great death from above/support piece. Let me know what you think. This is my first try at a falcon army.
Dude, ya should've posted this over on the CJF thread - we're a lot nicer than our fluff namesake :)
4 Kites? That's extreme; I like it! :devious:
The Long Tom is substandard, and if you are going to take a Zahn, I'd be sticking a big ballistics tank in it, since you're packing a bit of a paper cut army otherwise. Think Kelswa, but I have to admit that the Glory FST is a sweet deal if the bad guys come packing basers...
Gnomes? There are better - Raiden, Elemental or maybe Sniper Teams would be a better choice.
The GHK is a great support piece, so don't be a muppet like me and try and use it as a beat stick against bigger targets - more often than not, it won't survive - if you don't believe me, ask D503! :p
There's potential here - but I reckon it needs tweaking.
Looks fun. The JF Goshawk is an MDFA monster, and the artillery is pretty good. I like Sylphs alot because they are very very good harrassers. I used two DF ones last night and they did better than my mechs in the last round. If you get into your opponents arc their a legitimate threat.
Alright, I will try and squeeze the kelswa in there...I do have 1. As far as artillery goes, I really only have the Long Tom and Hadur. I have some thunders and centaurs, but I have not been impressed with them. I really appreciate having some arty support goin into battle. I realized after my post that I am not packing that much firepower, but I love my kites! I'll tweek a bit tonight and repost.
Is this for the July Storyline? If so, dont worry to much about artillery because the PC Heavy Fog is in effect throughout the whole tournament. Even Mortar Squads will have a tough time hitting their target.
Maybe because I'm a bigger fan SC fan than JF ,but when it comes to Arty the more random the effect the more I love to use it. If someones playing fog (which by way I love it. I play SC longtoms in fog all the time, but thats a different thread. :p ) I wouldn't be afraid to keep a fun piece of Arty in the mix. with the effect it will be devastating when your opponent has to be double cautoious where he moves since it's going to be harder to decide where safe is. :) Just my 2 cents.
Y'know, Blanner, I'm sure I've heard you say that somewhere else before. Thing is, some of us look for artillery which satisfy the age-old dictum, "On time, On target"... ;)
