Read all about the Kurita-Nova Cat assault on The Republic in Heretic's Faith, the new Mechwarrior novel coming from Roc in August!
I'll do you one better; the 'Mech in the main picture is definitely a Shadow Cat. Compare the one in the Annihilation teaser on the WK site to the picture. Same arms, same legs, same cockpit.
Initially, I thought the thing down in the corner was some Shadow Cat variant with an LRM; the cockpit looks the same. But the legs are clearly different. My guess is that that smaller picture is our first look at a Wendigo.
I've tried to find something on the Wendigo, but the closest I found was a reference to the Wendigo being a variant of the Nova Cat (In MechAssault 2).
As for the Hitotsune Kozo, I believe it to be another original creation.
Now if I could only will the Nova Cats to turn on HK and join in the defense of the Republic...
...scratch that, I found an entry for the Wendigo WD-RI1 on Solaris7.com
Here's the overview text:
"Based on the Griffin GRF 1S this mech its desinged as an Infiltrator. With the actual capabilities it posseses its role is to use its speed and manuverability to close range with the enemy and help the rest of the lance give support fire by reducing ranges with the use of the C3 network."
It's an Inner Sphere, 55-ton design, and the original version looks nothing like what is pictured (the ad picture is much cooler looking). The CBT version looks exactly like a Griffin and was not part of any Clan forces.
Heres the annoying thing, most of these "New" mechs from the Clans are not OMNIMechs.
Why on the devils earth would the Clans make non-omnis for the front lines...the Shadow Cat IS an omni (YAY!) but most of these other dont look like they are...
Hitotsune Koza, the other demon from Japan, is a goblin-like creature in form. He has one eye in the middle of his head. His name Koza means “novice monk.” Koza is a shape shifter. He can take the shape of whatever form he touches. To scare him off, the villagers put eyes in front of their doors because Koza feels jealous of his one eye and will run away.
So the Hitotsune Koza probably has a cockpit that looks similar to the Wrath, and with the only to slots that are open in mech classes for mechs that are unique to HK, it is either an assault mech or a medium mech. In either case, I hope one other faction besides HK gets one.
