I have been wondering if anyone has any practical breakdown for armies within their points. As in what should be found in an army of 450 versus an army of 600 versus an army of 750 etc etc.......
I have so many events each month that are different sizes and its hard sometimes for me to build an army that is right for a 450 or 600 point battle.
For example:
In a 600 point battle what should you normally see?
An Assault Mech with or without a support mech? Two Artillery with how many infantry?
Should you run a Situational Alliance in a 450 or 600 point battle? When is a good time etc?
Faction Pride.....is it worth adding if you know one player will bring True Grit?
Questions like that. I know it can all change depending on the scenario of the event, but I am looking at the average straight forward battles.
there is really no clear easy way to answer this question. wht i notice in my venue is that the army builds tend to plow in the same direction. right now high def mechs is what is in. especaily with decoy. so in our last 600 unrestriced i pulled out an liao faction pure army of
4 arrow 4's
6 atv's
2 targe
2 combat engineers and had a blast.
pogs dont care about decoy.
the week before i played multiple td with a faction card and did well.
before that i played blackrose army.
i belive that you need to know what your opponates in your venue will play or tend to play. also try to master as many diffent types of staratgys as possible.
i.e.
pog warrior
td
capture teams
dual mech
rhdm
vtol swarm
inf swarm
ballanced
by playing each style you will learn the strengths and weekness in each style and how to defeat them.
If you face a lot of artillery you can either camp and duel it out or go for speed and mobility. If the latter, try and have as many formations as you have orders.
If you face a big fat 'Mech, look at ways of breaking it down. Try using Streaks so it can't shoot back, for instance, or use Fa Shih and move into its rear arc. Or pog it apart.
Without knowing what you are facing it's hard to generalise.
