Rather than moan about my the state of my Annihilation minis (I'm waiting for singles to go up, which could be a while considering the state of the set thus far), I want to speculate on what the Morrigan's carrying.

We know it's light and it's got a TSEMP emitter. It was also mentioned that it's got lasers and not LRMs in its shoulders (should be in one of the novels). So, what's this thing running?

We've got an average 11 range on the secondary ballistics (which are supposed to be lasers). ER?

If this little guy is packing an XL engine, I can easily see ten ER Mediums, which is a lot of punch for any 'Mech. Pulsers would make it extremely hot and scary.

I don't have Heavy Metal on my new hard drive yet, but I can see it at 30 tons and a bit on the slow side (at least slow for a light).

So, what do you guys think?

Since the secondary weapons are ballistic and those shoulders really look like they're carrying missile weapons (red tips and all, usually a dead giveaway when it comes to ballistic weapons), I'd say that the Morrigans simply do have a ballistic weapon system on board. I would guess ATM or LRM. The arm-mounted laser could be a TSEMP-capable ER medium or large laser. Or maybe there are more ER medium lasers in the torso, hidden behind armored doors.

I would say:

2 LRM 5 (clan)
1 Large TSEMP laser. (obviously, it TSEMP is a new tech)

Given the speed of the mech, it definatly has a lot of tonnage going towards engine and jump-jets.

I highly doubt its an Omni-mech design, and I find the idea of 10 ER Mediums preposterous... The BlackHawk (Nova) has almost that many, and its a lot heavier and still has major heat troubles.

The LRM configuration does make the most sense visually, but I believe whatever novel has it on the cover mentioned it's got lasers up there.

Smalls? Micros?

Since the Morrigan isn't a 'Mech which can be looked up in a Technical Readout, it may very well be possible that the author of that novel took some liberties. The Morrigan version in the book probably is just another version which has been modified to act as an energy weapon boat. Makes sense, quiaff?

Aff, but it's still fun to discuss.

Here is what I figure. This mech appears to be a joint venture between the Novat Cats and the Combine. It may be possible that it is equipped with the following

1 Battlemech Taser (From Solaris Map Pack)
1 Clan LRM 5
5 ER Micro Lasers
1 Targeting computer.

Since I'm not familiar with the Solaris Map Pack, I would like to know what a BattleMech Taser is. Sounds like a cattleprod for 'Mechs.

Missiles and lasers. That might explain something. Is the targeting computer necessary, though? I can see a C3 slave, maybe.
