Hey all last night I was sorting through my collection and found my Marcel Thennes and began to wonder if we would ever see a non-unique wolfhound in the future. Then I got to thinking about what factions would get them and here is what I came up with.
Green - Jade Falcon
Veteran - House Kurita
Veteran - Wolf Hunters or Steel Wolf or Wolf in Exile (if WiE ever comes out)
Elite - House Steiner
Reasons why those factions could get the 'mechs:
Jade Falcon - Border skirmishes with Steiner or Steel Wolf/Wolf in Exile could result in a few captured/salvaged wolfhounds for the Falcons, although they would be given to second line or freebirth 'mechwarriors due to the fact that they are an 'inferior' inner sphere design, hence the reason they would get the green version.
House Kurita - The wolfhound was created as a direct counter to House Kurita's Panther mech. I see no reason why you wouldn't want to get your hands on a rivals counter to one of your 'mechs for various reasons.
Wolf Hunters / Steel Wolves / Wolf in Exile - House Steiner has a history of using more merc troops than most other houses do, and as such perhaps a few wolfhounds have found their way into Wolf Hunter hands as part of a payment. The Steel Wolves could easily been seen fielding these due to their alliance with house steiner. As for WiE if they ever become a 'true' faction in their own right they could have these too because if I remember correctly the WiE home world is in steiner space on Arc-Royal and they have ties to Steiner. (that and Phelan had a wolfhound)
House Steiner - *cough* Need I give a reason behind Steiner getting the elite wolfhound? :D
Anyway it is just an idea. I don't know if the wolfhound is actualy 'to scale' or not so that could be the reason we haven't seen them remade. Anyway let me know what you think.

Word-up!
I thought the sculpt was wonderfull (if not a little big), and the mechs themselves could prove to be quite potent as well..
I was thinking up some of the stats for them, but didn't get that far, just some of the ranges and such.
All version should be slower than most light 'mechs because the wolfhound was built to be durable and loaded with firepower.
Jade Falcon - Speedier that the other three versions, maybe with jumpjets and a little higher attack value than the other versions. Possible 12" energy range on the primary. 8" energy on secondary. Pulse on one of the damage values
Kurita - Standard Kurita dial, Heavy armor to start. 14" energy range primary. Pulse? 10" secondary range.
Steel Wolf / Wolf Hunter / WiE - Trades out the primary energy range for a ballistic range of 14" say a AC/5 replacing the large laser. Maybe infiltration on the first click, picking up armor piercing or anti-personel. Reactive armor? secondary energy range of 8" 6".
Steiner - More durable than the rest, maybe camo? Higher energy damage than the others, pulse again. 'worse' heat dial than the rest.
If you're making stats don't forget about Phelan Kell's original Wolfhound. I remember it having an ER large laser, 3 med pulse lasers in the front arc and 1 ER med laser in the rear arc, all clan-tech.
I read the novels  . Also, it IS a good sculpt and deserves a shot at being a non.
This is certainly another Battlemech I never thought anyone would ever consider anything but an eyesore. Like a stick figure, so nimble and unbalanced, with a big head, like a toddler. Blecch. Anyways, more power to you if you like it.
I gotta agree that the DFA sculpt of the Wolfhound is a real clunker. That, and it looks to be way outta scale, too. However: I like the pic of the 'mech in the dossiers, and I also lke the 'mech itself. A resculpt for a non-unique run of Wolfhounds would be most cool.
Liked the sculpt though it is too out-of-scale now that size of the sculpt seems to matter. I thought that the detail was first-rate. SH was my favorite faction when the Wolfhound made it appearence, so it really applealed to me. Tamara Duke is one of the few mechs that I display.
I would like to see it remade using the current scale and stats for a light mech.
Anyone have any idea's as to how the stats should play out? Most are all energy variants that I have made up so far, except the SW / WH / WiE one that has a ballistic damage on it. most get evade about halfway through the dial, jade falcon one picks up IT at the end, and is a little faster than the others. the one that is giving me the most problems is the Steiner version, trying to decide if I should give it camoflauge or not.
You could give it electronic camo, and as far as the sculpt, I wished that it looked exactly like the one in MW4. The Hellhound would make an interesting sculpt as well as fill a niche in the game as a lighter mech/vehicle hunter/killer. Personally I'd go with the MW4 sculpt on that one too. Even though its sculpt isn't the same as the orginal (CBT), it looks a lot more unique not being humanoid in shape.
Here are some factions that could end up with them:
CJF, HS, HD, RD, WH
They would have around a 0/10 ballistic and a 2/12 (maybe 14) energy range basing it off of the Mercs loadout. Jumpjets would be included on some of them, and their speed would be fairly high, heat dials would have some colors on them, and would be moderately armored.
I think it would best sweet to see a non unique wolfhound and i agree with those factions made by dark nation. The stats should be at and okay level since they are just light mechs. I would really like to see a couple of kool non uniques like a ryokian 2 or maybe and atlas but i just saw the new one and i didnt like the new sculpt that much. It takes away the evilness from the DA atlas. and the Hell Hound part would be awsome to see along with other mech that deserve to be put into this game.
I know that in the discussion thread around what mechs RotS would get in the next army builder set, one mech suggested was the Wolfhound. I could totally see that happening. Then there'd be just one (or two), instead of four, but still, that beats none.

The wolfhound is on the heavy end of the light mech class, so I would think it is perfectly in scale, especially when compared to the Solitaire.
I disagree with your assesment of factions though. The falcons MAY get one but wolfhounds are very survivable, able to walk off the feild more often then not. so salvage oppourtunities are few and far between.
House kurita would never touch it because they love thier panther to much.
The WIE would have a wolfhound IIC, not a WLF-2.
House steiner is a given though I would make it green or veteran.
House Davion also used the mech in large number historically Elite or VET
The Wolfhound was tested by mercs, and so it could be logically given the the Hunters. Often mechwarriors who pilot wolfhounds have been in a few scraps so make it VET
I agree that the last faction could be the falcons, though the republic would also make sense.
