I have used Mercy a couple times. She is good at picking off the little guys. Regrettably, she is to pricey to be used in that support role. Her attack value drops off pretty fast, so she is not good at facing other assault mechs. Nice lines, though
EW, take what the naysayers have said about this mech with a grain of salt. Lots
of good players gave it excellent reviews. Some key points for you to consider -
"Mercy" - Zeus
-------------------
Equip with Enrico Fernali and Electronic Camo. Recruit to your faction of choice.
12 AV (1st), 11 (2nd and 3rd), and 10 (4th - 7th).
8 MV (1st - 6th) w/minimum MV of 6 before salvage.
23 Def. w/ RA (1st - 3rd), 22 (4th - 6th), 21 (7th - 9th), and 20 (10th - 12th).
Damage potential of (at least) 4 all the way up to salvage with 5 damage Streaks
on clicks 1 -3 and 4 damage Streaks on clicks 4-6. After losing Streaks, mech picks
up 3 damage Pulse for clicks 7-9 and 2 damage Pulse for clicks 10-13.
Decent heat dial that is clear of color for for first 2 clicks.
18" AO range w/Streaks.
14" AO range w/Pulse.
EC, combined with blocking, renders it immune to Shiros.
Reactive armor gives it a starting immunity to most remaining artillery.
My choice would be to recruit this combo to the Republic and run it under the RS
faction pride for a starting attack of 13. ;)
I've used Mercy a couple times now, using the non-LE version of Toni Rivera as pilot, also with and without gear, and also recruited to HS and not recruited at all.. So far, the "Eternal Rest" ability has stood me in good stead, allowing her to kill off an annoying infantry base and then shoot at your primary target (whatever that may be). The ability comes out as somthing of a surprize for my opponents, which has helped. Keeping a coolant truck nearby or recruting her to HS and using the new FP helps significantly with her pushability and avoiding ammo explosions on her heat dial. Her one downside is that when she fades into Pulse at the end of her dial, her attack value is just a little too low for her to hit reliably, however it does keep her useful and a threat deep into her dial. I need to keep playing her to get a better feel for the dial and how to use her, but so far as I have used her, she is a great piece.
-It has reactive armor
-streaks
-a good defense and attack value
Bad things about it.
-Less than average heat dial
-AV drops quickly(in other words its glass jawed)
Trying to keep a coolant truck near it would bog you down, so you just have to play it safe with the heat dial. Also getting double teamed by fast lighter mechs would be a problem. BR solitaires, for example, could really give "Mercy" problems.
I recently played Mercy with the LE Toni and CASE, in a four way assault mech fest. I ran around alot (Toni's "Superior Heat Management" special ability is cool - pardon the pun), hid behind buildings, and let loose with Streak Missiles any chance I got.
Then again, Mercy is slower, can't use terrain as effectively, loses attack and damage much faster, has a much worse heat dial, has a worse matching pilot, and costs about 30 points more.
I can't see anything I'd want to do with Mercy that I couldn't do more effectively with Chikako, Yami, or even Verfinsterung or Tremor. It doesn't even have a role as a faction-pure or backup piece, since it's a gunslinger and too expensive to really fit into any army that has another sizable 'mech.

Verfinsterung is way to slow, and tremor is way to expensive and the minimum range kills it. Also, I can just keep basing Chikako(probably with a BR Solitaire) and forcing it to break away till it has heat problems.
For Mercy's average heat dial all you have to do is use her Superior Heat Management ability. On top of that Mercy has a better defense with reactive armor(most artillery don't have AP). And Chikako's heat dial is not much better. On their third click of heat both mechs are pretty bad off.
I have to say that Superior Heat Management is a potentially good ability. It lets you keep your heat low, but when using it, you only get an 11 attack and a 22 defense on a 273pt machine. And, should you manage to get into your ammo pop, that takes 2 off your AV and strips away one DV and your armor. The ammo pop is what makes the dial so unfriendly. While Verfinsterung is slower and has far less useful armor, its ability to ignore a heat roll and possibly use HS FP to give himself an 85% chance of passing the other makes it potentially more active.
Granted, when compared to Cheeky she has some advantages, but is the ability to free-spin and close combat worth 20 more points than quad advantages and a much more friendly AV? Mercy has uses, but it's not really the top class-A streak-missile mech.
