wow? who'da thunk it. we kurita got a thunderbird Ba that actualy is good. i was REALY expecting this unit to s.u.c.k. badly... and how.. with the cap 2 transport we are getting, it looks like we have a replacement for the DF kanazuchi BA from firepower. (and yes i know it's long been retired.) for a mere 1 pt, we even pick up jumpjets and heavy armor wich is an improvbement over the old and venerable 'zuchi. a nice adition to the combine forces. range is the same, and i believe that even the attack value with IT is the same on it's best click.
as far as the other units are concerned, meh, i'll ponder those when the time comes to care. i'm just happy that we who are inservice to the coordinator have a worthy unit to fill our new transport.
Ehh.... on the CNC Thunderbird. Just a cheaper unit to formation with the Elites I guess. Anyone notice the RD Ravager????? That thing takes 8 clicks of damage to kill if I counted right. I really hope I don't see many formations of those played. I think RD just took the trophy for the longest lived infantry.
Now I know I'm definitely going to buy a case of Mechwarrior: Vanguard. Just so i can get my hands on those Vulture Mk IV's. Only question is where can I get a case besides ebay? And only for $300?
I am very surprised at just how good the HK and JF T-Birds are, the JF one in particular will prove to be very difficult to kill with all that reactive armor. The HK one is nice, but fragile.
The CNC one looks unspectacular, but offers similar stats to the :^^: version for 2 points less, definatly helpful when making formations using the :^^^: version.
I definatly like how CNC has access to 4 (count 'em) versions of this excellent battle armor.
The Ravagers finally act like they look, extremly tough battle armor.
The new Vulture looks like the best of the bunch, with a good pilot to boot.
I agree Trev, the HK BA will actually be quite useful, and considering the attack values on the CJF one, thats gonna be hard to beat.
The Ravagers....I have to say it...OMG! 8 clicks to kill. It matches the old Scorchers in longevity. The RD one is probably a little more superior than the Steiner one but both are not something you are gonna scrape off in a turn, unless you are that vulture ;)
The CJF one is tough, but crunchy. Get through the armor and it looks like it falls over pretty easily (well, in comparison to a fair number of CJF infantry).
However, it hits like a mule, has a fair whack of speed and has the best armor for infantry. Even a bit of IT late dial. With infantry value creeping up like they've been, the price isn't too bad either. Makes a nice Fenrir replacement (hello Cardinal/Bishop drop teams).
I personally doubt the HS Ravager is a reprint (first, it's elite, secondly, it has more clicks of life). Anyway, I can't wait until I have a trinary of them to add to the trinary from the Annihilation set (yep, that's 15 Ravagers, considering that one would be a "point," even though an IS armor unit would not be in stars or trinaries). Now, if I only knew if it had anti-personnel, then we would be in business!! :devious:
Until I can really get a closer look at the units, I will remain neutral in opinion.
I love the sculp for that new vulture. The same as the one found in the Vanguard Officer's Club right? The orange and green paintjob is crummy though :P
Anyway, anyone know if people out of US, UK etc. Can join the officers club? Where can I read more about it, I dont see any "International Info" on the wizkids site. I'm in Malaysia btw...
