I'm new to MW:DA, I've bought two AOD booster packs and pulled 4 steel wolf units. What happened to the Steel Wolves in subsequent expansions? Vanguard doesn't even have them listed as a faction. I couldn't find any info on them on WK website, except that there is no mention of them after AOD, Falcon's prey under "boosters" lists all of the Steel Wolves units as 0. I was planning on playing as the Steel Wolves, but if they are a dying breed I might have to pick a different faction.

What you ask is a sad, sad story, sir. After AoD, the Steel Wolves were never again got units. Fluff-wise, they split in two, becoming either the Wolf Hunters, a mercenary faction that everybody loves, or being lumped into official Clan Wolf, due to come upon the scene next expansion. They were orignally a splinter faction of Clan Wolf bent on taking Terra.

Thanks for the reply, that is a sad story. Are steel wolves considered a part of Clan Wolf, in other words could you mix steel wolves and wolves and still be "faction pure"?
They became the Wolf Hunters; also, there's now Clan Wolf (the original Clan - Steel Wolves was a hybrid of CW and Steel Vipers). They have dials very much like SW, and include many of the same characters.

I don't know exactly, you'd have to ask WizKids, but I would think so. It's as much a House Alliance as anything else.
I'm assuming that there will be a house alliance, just as with House Steiner/Stormhammers, House Davion/Swordsworn, Kurita/Dragon's Fury, etc. It's reasonable to assume so.
Whoops. Got an error message on that first post, so didn't realize it went through. WIth the apology, it's now a triple post. And the post of the devil to boot. 666!
It should also be noted that Wolf Hunters are mercenary, so they could be mixed with the Steel Wolves, and that a few new Situational Alliances say Wolf Hunters/Steel Wolves together as one side.
Yeah. Suffice it to say the Steel Wolves are going to be folded into some other faction sooner or later. (My personal hunch is that the next few sets will see both the Steel Wolves and the Wolf Hunters merged into Clan Wolf, but that's just my .02.)
Something to keep in mind is that units from both the Steel Wolves and the Wolf Hunters need one or two clicks to get on their prime dial position, so gamewise those units combine well. Also don't forget that you can recruit Gunslingers and their 'Mechs to the Steel Wolves, which is another way to bolster your forces.
Well, seeing as there is a Clan Wolf?Steel Wolves mercenary contract card in Vanguard, I guess that Clan Wolf absorbs Steel Wolves. Thats one mystery half solved.
