I used to play MW back during Dark Age and I realize that there is no way I can use anything I've got. I was wondering what do I need to do besides getting a starter and such?

Read up on the rules and FAQ, you may still use your old units in unrestricted events, and you may want to pick up a couple boosters from any of the new sets, Age of Destruction, Firepower, Anniahlation, Domination, Vanguard. (the units in the starter are kinda, well... not that great.)

I don't know what faction you played or if you played a faction at all. The pieces play a lot differently now so I'd try them all before I decided on what Faction to run (if any).

After you get a feel for the game then I'd use linknet to get updated on the story, can be found on WK under their games section.

Go to Origins or GenCon and see what the playing is like...you'll love it.

After all that...maybe choose a faction, get some of the faction dice, and play your A off.

In terms of longevity, Domination and Vanguard will be around until roughly January 2009 (18 month cycles?). AoD and Firepower will be retired in May/June 2007. Annihilation is not certain, it'll be in one or the other group!!

You'll want support. Vanguard is good for that. Depends on how competitive you want to be ... and on whether you want faction pure, of course ...

Swamp, if you're planning to play tournaments again, you will still be able to use your 'retired' units in unrestricted games. During informal games you are of course free to use whatever you've got. I don't want to stop you from getting a starter, but if you want to brush up on your knowledge of the rules of the game, you can also download those from the WizKids-site as a PDF. Also keep in mind that new equipment has been introduced to the game since the Falcon's Prey set, so it is also advisable to download or copy a SEC. Good luck catching up with the current state of the game!

Thanks guys and possibly gals. I am more than likely going to pick up a starter this weekend mostly so I can get a ruler again, it's sort of dissapeared, and to have some more current stuff. Although I will say I'm really excited to play again mostly because I bought a Firepower booster today and got a Black Rose Shrike. It definately boosted me on playing to get a unique my first purchase back in.

and you CAN use them. just not in the restricted constructed tourneys. noone is going to come and take you away if you use them in casual play. besides torunaments are what? weekly at best?
