Question: I'm building a battle force with GunSlinger Pilots in mercenary mechs and will use a Mercenary Contract card. If I pay the points for the Contract card to have the mercs join, say the Clan Sea Fox (i didn't say i was smart :p), do I have to pay the pilot recruitment into the Sea Fox faction as well?
I know the merc faction card will change all the merc infantry and vehicles into the merc contract faction, but the gunflinger pilots in merc mechs has me a little fuzzy... and trying to squeeze every point i can get.
Because Mercenary Contracts give the unit, and the unit only, I believe, that faction symbol, I would say you would have to pay the recruitment for the pilot, unless it is a legendary pilot with the same faction symbol as the Mercenary Contract. I also believe that you can't mercenary contract a unit and then place a pilot that won't work for that faction in the mech. For example, you can use a Liao Mercenary Contract on Rooster and then put Cecil Neumann in Rooster, because Cecil won't work for Liao.
Q: *I play a mercenary contract card that gives the gunslinger ’Mechs in my battleforce the Dragon’s Fury faction symbol. Do I still need to pay their recruitment costs?*
A: No. Even though the contract card gives the unit a faction symbol you do not need to pay a recruitment cost as well.
BUT! this does not work for pilots that will NOT work for a faction, so if there's a faction symbol with a dash through it the pilot can not be recruited to that faction by any means.
However,
Could you do any or all of the following:
-recruit the Twins to Highlander by paying the cost?
-use the Highlander MC to recruit them to Highlander?
-use the new RotS/Highlander MC to recruit them to Highlander?
