In tourney that calls for x number of points be of the same faction, can WH units and regular unfactioned merc units be considered of the same faction, mercs? Or is this where on this point, there are two separate merc factions, WH and 'generic'?

I believe WH are the same as Mercs. I think this because WH can use the reduced cost on the Merc Faction Pride.

Mercenaries are not a faction. They do not have a faction symbol. Therefore they do not count towards the 50%/X points.

Wolf Hunters are a faction and do have a faction symbol. You can therefore meet the requirement using a mixture of Wolf Hunter and Steel Wolf units (thanks to the Grand Alliance).

In a way this does make sense... so let me see if I'm reading this right:

Generic mercenaries (units with no faction symbol) can NOT be used to qualify for the x points required for some WK tourneys.

In the case of the July Storyline II 900 point game where Putting up generic merc units and generic merc mechs not recurited to a faction can NOT be used to meet this qualification, right?

This scenario needs 450 points of units with the same faction and/or merc units recruited into said faction, right?

Generic merc units themselves and unrecruited do not qualify since there is an absence of a faction symbol, right?

Correct on all counts, although allied factions are fine too. And remember, alliance links are "inherited" like a chain.

Very well. Then I've been getting away with a fast one with my BMs. The key to understanding was seeing the word "faction symbol" in the storyline requirements.

But also this makes WH units a different kind of merc unit. They do carry a "faction symbol", can qualify for the storyline requirements, and still combine with another faction to create fire/move formations.
