i had just gotten the jade falcon batleforce set and saw a purple on the ballistics, i've heard about it but dont know what it does. can anyone tell me?

The purple special equipment on ballistic damage is an Artemis V Fire-Control System:

(optional) When this unit suceeds at a ranged combat attack targeting a single opposing figure, roll one six-sided die. On a result of 3-5, this unit gets +1 to its damage value for the attack; on a result of 6, it gets +2 to its damage value for the attack.

Do you need to learn about the rest of the purple special equipment?
