The HEG formation is the main attacker, going out after the shades and Zealots. The shades act as harrasment (of course) and the Zealots provide another charge figure. The whole army moves at 12 inches and in 1 turn. The Heavy Lancer provides as the main attacker in the HEG formation, the cavilier following behind and finishing them off with WM. The HEG acts as someone who takes care of support figs such as healers, levitators and necromancers and is a great fighter as well. After the Infantry Captain force marches, he becomes a good fighter. I don't need to go in depth we have seen this many times, I just want everyone's opinion.
hello Wonka626
nice to see you try out the army type.
Formation 1 packs a punch , no question
the two shades are also present
about the second formation though , I'm not sure.
I haven't played the Elven Zealots yet because I'm afraid that one click of Charge will not be enough ( Ram)
and they really drop off after just one click.
If you don't have the Chargers (yet) to replace them with
I suggest making it more an E@A formation.
The army's bread and butter are the Chargers
and it is really key that they are "durable" ones , the "Heavy's"
able to take a click or two and not loose too much power.
Thanks for your opinion Borg, yeah I realized after you said that, in order to play the zealots effectivley I would need a healer, which takes up too many points so I decided to throw them out. I have another ***Heavy Lancer and ***Heavy Cavilier to spare so I put in the Cavilier and put 2 more elven recruits in the captain form. a * and a *.
High Elf General 60
Heavy Lancer*** 51
Heavy Cavilier*** 47
Standard Bearer* 11
Elf at Arms* 15
Elf at Arms* 15
Elven Recruit* 7
Infantry Captain** 23
Heavy Cavilier*** 47
Shade* 12
Shade* 12
Total- 300
I gave the Captain a little more punch by adding the E@A to it but I had to downgrade the bearer and 2 shades. I dunno if this is a good decision, if not I can always take out the E@A to upgrade the shades again and replace them with the elven recruits. My friend suggested this-
Heavy Cavilier*** 47
Heavy Lancer*** 51
Heavy Cavilier*** 47
Standard Bearer*** 15
High Elf General 60
Elven Recruit** 10
Elf at Arms* 15
Infantry Captain** 23
Heavy Cavalier*** 47
Heavy Lancer*** 51
Heavy Cavalier*** 47
Standard Bearer*** 15
High Elf General 60
Elven Recruit** 10
Elf at Arms* 15
Infantry Captain** 23
Shade** 16
Shade** 16
Total- 300

Downgrade the Bearer to *
use the 4 points to upgrade the elf to ***
Move one of the Chargers individually , so you have a bodyguard for the Charger formation.
It also reduces the chances of the whole Charger-formation getting tied up.
About "Steeplechasing"
When a figs base is COMPLETELY inside hindering terrain ,
his movement is stopped.
A mounted figure can just run straight over a Hedgerow
without ever having to stop because its base is NEVER COMPLETELY in the hindering terrain.
By the time its backside enters the hindering terrain
its nose is already out of it again
and thus it doesn't have to stop.
I didn't realize the HEG was that cheap a fig, man I need to get ym hands on one. Nice army, I will have to try it out, but I get to use healers since I dont have that magnitude of Mounted figs yet, so my points are cheaper, of course I have no shades yet too, so I use mancatchers.
