use the techun 4 the big uniques or more powerful unit use the form as apowerful 7 click attack and shoot and fly techun to the medic i hope this helps
It's a difficult figure to use in 200 points armies.
Most players to to use him in 300 points or even bigger armies. It works fine if you support it with good chargers or a mix of chargers and bounders.
I like to play Techun as a loner, exploring its speed, good range, attack and damage. That's why good supporters are something so important in my opinion.
Good supporters: Nightmare Reaper ***, Heavy Cavalier *, Heavy Lancer ***, Scorpem Gunner ***, Centaur Champion, Sislith Tracker ****.
Some harassment (Shade **) is also useful. You don't want your opponent getting B2B with your Techun.
A healer is an option, the Faith Healer is just fine.
Techun is becoming my fav. figure. He's practically unplayable in 200pts, but in 300 (the more points the better!) he becomes a beast! He can take 5 clicks and still blast a *shade in one hit. And he's a golem riding a flying golem with a dragonblaster for am arm. Can it get any cooler?
i agree pretty hard to do in 200 but in the armies already posted Chazbos looks good to play but change the demis and amoteps around a bit so there are more amoteps. As for Narcissus's i have said it many times before. DON'T USE THE CORRUPTED PRIEST ESPECIALLY IN 200 UNLESS U R IN 500+
Read the thread BPR army (mostly) or somethin like that i explained why
Hoo boy, lots of stuff I wanna reply to. ^_^ And away we go...
Narcissus - Great GA army...if I can ask a question, why the Heavy Lancer? He's a good piece, but I can think of a few chargers that might be better. Was there any special reason for picking him?
TheTong - I don't see the uselessness of him in 200 play at all. Yes, he takes up a boatload of your points for the army, but if you plan for that in army creation it shouldn't be too crippling. GA armies, for example, can use him with no problem in 200.
However, I do agree with you, he does really begin to shine in the upper point values. Using him as a harasser behind the enemy's ranks while hitting them with the rest of your army from the front is an excellent tactic on the whole for this piece. I'm just arguing that, while his role changes from the higher point values that you usually see this piece in, he can have a different, yet still powerful, role in low point value play.
Magewarrior - I completely and totally disagree with the points you brought up about including the Corrupted Priest in 200 play. Again, you may be correct in reference to SOME armies, but NOT ALL. Remember that the Corrupted Priest has very, very good stats outside of it's healing, and a great combination of SA's. I mainly play GA in 200 points, and for a GA army, having a healer who can not only move 10 inches but fly is critical.
Also, the Corrupted Priest may (and this is where I'll get disagreed with most, I'm sure) become a decent threat in his own right during a battle. 10 inch range with 2 damage is nothing to sneeze at...yes, I'll admit that it's not the best, but it is FAR from the worst.
Ok, I agree that in GA he is good (I'm a huge GA supporter BTW, so I didn't want to give a biased opinion on him with that as my only selling point :) )
He's a strong attacker that can dismantle support and run to another and repeat. it's hard to catch him, and if you do, you're getting whacked for 5 clicks (oww).
So, yeah in GA he's viable in 200pts, but I'm not crazy on 200pt GA...I've tried it and it's neat but the Striker OR Techun (or whatever you wanna fill in as your lead attacker) is kinda a pain. But I do see his validity.
I know it's hard to fit a Techun into a 200 point army, but my friend did it quite well (with some help from the MK community). His army was solid, consistent, playable, flexible, and even fun to play.
First he posted something about how to use a techun in a 200 point game, just as you did. Some dude replied saying that to use him, he needs a "wingman". If the techun gets tied up, the "wingman" can just attack the harraser and free the techun up. After many revisions, my freind finally came up with this army:
The wingmen were the cavs. The faith healer sat back with the imps, and if any threat came towards it, just send an imp after it to tie it up, while giving time to the faith healer to run away. It ended up going 3-1 in a tournament.
This is an example of a good Techun army in 200 points.
I remember watching a game where a player used an army pretty similar to this one, with sucess.
The heavy cavalier is very good for his points and fits perfectly as a supporter for figures like Techun IMO.
Playing it in 200 is not simple or easy, but it's doable once you can support it correctly. That's what I said in my previous post, that it's a difficult piece to use in 200 points, but with some key figures, it could be done.
Steampunk:
The reason I put in the Lancer is because it came closest to 200 points without any fodder. The cheapest worthwhile fodder to put in there was the Imp *. I am not even too thrilled about having him in there.
