:o after looking at sweep and considering it i have found that it is useless, if one of your figures has sweep the opposition is not goin to swarm him. I know I wouldn't. Unless you can magicly levitate him in I can't think of any other way to use it.
Of course, your opponent would never swarm your figure which has sweep, it's your goal to base his own figures and try to use it. Otherwise anybody would use other abilities like shockwave, or sneak attack.
It depends on the way you play your army and support the figures which have special abilities.
Sweep isn't useless because it keeps people from swarming you...quite the opposite, in fact. Sweep is so good because no one in their right mind would swarm your figure and try to mess it up. That way, you can position your Sweeper to direct where they will and won't go against you. And if it's on an Orc Captain, you can keep them running away from said piece for the whole game.
Guild Man, I find it funny that your criticism of Sweep as "useless" actually mentions the very reason Sweep is useful.
Of course your opponent isn't going to swarm your Sweep figure... he's going to actively try to prevent you from using Sweep by rearranging his figures.
That's the whole point. Because of an SA you haven't even used yet on a figure, you've forced your opponent to change his strategy.
For an even better example of this, try playing a Chariot with a non-sweep figure against a good opponent.
Now try playing with a Jarl Frostriven, Lord Oren, or Dwarven Hammerskald for a passenger and see how much different the game is when your opponent refuses to swarm the otherwise vulnerable parts of the chariot.
Its also very handy to use to force the opposing figures to move and act the way you want them to. If they know there is a big danger of sweep(say a Maelstorm with 2 ML'ers) they won't leave their figures in a position to all be hit or may not even push because they're worried that if they do they're going to get roasted next turn by a massive sweep.
Is taking out 3 troll artillerists in one turn with one action useless?
Then Sweep is not useless. I do not play Sweep to control the enemy, I play Sweep to kill the enemy. Both ways work, you just need to decided which works for you.
Blizzard , it still seems like you want to be the King Spammer.
I don't really believe it was your friend who wrote all those nonsense replies yesterday.
If it was , you and your friend seem to have a very "similar style" of posting.
Sweep is very good, you gain control of the field with it being able to take one figure at a time because your oponent will not be willing to put two figures against you unless they are on opposed sides...:D
And toughness,is this era of ram and falling from castles walls and such, being able to soak up damage is relly good.
Sweep is a great SA. You can eitherchase your enemy around, because he obviously won't base you, or, in some cases, he will base you, in which case you carry on a nice little execution. Gotta love the Orc Captain. :D
