Personally, I try not to build a 300 point army without him. I hate the Sect, but man the guy has so much going for him the whole time. The Mage Knight website called him a wildcard and I have to agree!
Well, the necro judge is a medicore figure. He suffers from several problems for his 87? points. First is lack of range. Having a range of only 10 inches means you will get out ranged easily. Him having 2 targets isn't that great. Also his MI makes him unenhanceable while he's trying to freeze people. He loses his defense quickly. He has a range of 10 but if you take damage you have to base your opponent to use vampirism. With his medium damage value that quickly diminishes basing an opponent is not a good idea. Necro is useful to certain armies but there are better necro pieces out there, namely a nightwitch. I see him as a figure that is trying to be a jack of all trades and is coming up short in each department. A *** Heavy Cavalier should eat him alive for 40 less points.
I disagree. Surround him with cheap figs or put a Warrior sprite in front of him and no ranged attacks are going to hit him. I think 87 points is pretty cheap considering what you get. Magic Immunity, Magic retaliation, Attack of 12, vampirism, necromancy, and magic freeze. You could bring a figure with charge at him, but you're going against a 18 defense. Then you're in close combat, the judge fights back with vampirism. So whatever damage you did, is one less if he hits you back. I think if you play him right, with the right support, he's very dificult to beat.
Well even though i don't have him, he looks good enough to me. i agree with eazy, just support him with the right figs and do the right strategy, and he can win the day for you.
Overall i think everyone just hates him because of his MI. but that's just MHO.
