It claims that if you use flame lightning that you get a +2 to your attack, but the question is, do you still do one damage? If you do it would useless to do it because you would have to have enhancers.
(bearing in mind that I briefly read over all 3 remaining scenarios, during a bye yesterday), that a figure with the flame/lightning ability got the +2 to hit, but you were not required to use the flame/lightning special ability. If this weren't the case the buildings would be almost impossible to destroy. I would have to use a Gunner and 4 enhancers to blow up the last one? Seems ridiculous.
I don't have the scenario description right in front of me, but as I rremember it says "any figure USING flame lightning gets +2 to attack".. seems clear to me that you have to have the F/L "on" in order to get the attack bonus.. and thus will only do 1 point of unenhanced damage when you do hit.
That would be my read on it.. would be nice to hear how this will be ruled this weekend BEFORE the battle commences....
i played my week 2 scenario last night, and F/L does do 1 dmg if you take the +2 attack. i put a gunner with 3 demis and was able to take out 2 buildings each game.
i'd like to add that the week 2 scenario was tougher for the atlantis guild than i thought. i spent a good portion of the time clearing out the opposing army just so i could get a clear shot at a building.
my big problem with the way it was set up is that even though i trashed 2 buidlings and killed all my opponents army but a stomper and a boomer, i still lost my last round by dozen points because i could not roll a 5 or 6 to get a cache, so he got the bonus 120 points. i think WK should have given us at least a 50/50 shot on the dice roll. i rolled like garbage all night but still did enough to throw a serious whoopin down on everyone, but i squeaked out all my victories because i couldnt roll a 5 or 6. drove me nuts.
I must say that I agree, though I haven't played the sceanrio yet... but it seems to me that the BPR starts with a 360 point advantage (all 4 buildings standing at 60 pts each and NO caches uncovered at bonus 120points)..
I like the challenge and am not complaining if I chose to play AG then I know that is what I am up against..
I think though that to be "fair" at a tourney level where when all is over and done there is only one winner (for the prize), there should be a winner for the AG side and a winner for the BPR side...
I say it is fine to construct scenarios, and make them uneven... but since a single player in this series doesn't get to play both sides in a single tourney, then their relative success should be measured against those who played with the same advantages/disadvantages...
More like a bridge tournament where North-South is compared against all other North-Souths, but not against East-West.
I hope that Wizkids gives this some thought for future events.
