I love this thing, and I don't see what all the fuss is about. Sure, it has a 10 attack, which is deemed low for a MDF. And your point? The average defense it will face is 17, so it only need a 7. Not hard to get, IME. And it has Pierce with 5, count um 5, damage. So forget INVUL, BA, and Toughness. In a straight fight, it will WOOP the Fist of Tezla, no questions asked. Because it out-ranges it, and has damage reducing SAs instead of BA.
Dragons, such as the GFD, are much better than the tank. Not only is the GFD MUCH FASTER than that slow ### tank, it deals more damage. Even against Invulnerability, it still deals 5, and has higher odds of hitting than the tank.
Overall, tanks did an extremely poor job of defending the tower yesterday. Use your GFD.
all that may be true, but when i played against it yesterday i had a heck of a time trying to beat it. i had low rolls against from my seige engines that didnt help either. it may not be the greatest use of points but i certainly can tell you it isnt fun to go against when you have to.
Dont use it if you dont like! I think the DSB, even with explosion, is easly swarmed with his huge base; but against others MDF he is a killer! Dont put him on the first line; when close move and fire with two sides. 2 atacks of 10 with damage of 5; a good chance to hit. If hit both, goodbye for the enemy; one hit is enough to put any MDF out of his good slots. try to play against the fist of Tezla; you dont have chance to lose.
the tank isn't bad if you use it i big conquest games cause the whole reason to have the tank is to take down as much of the opposing armies as you can then you bring in those slow moving dwarfs to finish the job my friend can pull this off quit well
...Except with explosion, DSB can fill the roll of formation killer almost as well as the Fist.
And what is this about swarming? BECAUSE OF its big base it is hard to swarm. Try getting enough pieces to completely surround it in one turn. Nigh immposible. With its 12 range, you can only swarm the front without getting hit once. Then it just breaks and fires again. Explosion tears apart those formations.

FoT is the formation killer
ok, but the DSB an destroy 400pnts.... its impoissible...i neverer played against a FoT, but when i played against a DSB(light sure...) in 400 pnts, i just had chances with my charge/bound deck, but with swarms... try to come in base with the tank, he will run with 1/4 of the dial and soht with the anothers, and he using big water terrais, to you cant run with the demoralizeds, and in he use 67 points of harassers to help him... in 400 pnts just chargers have chances.... (btw, DSB rox!)
Not to mention if you're a collector, the sculpt alone is worth buying it for! :D I really like this piece. Tanks are just fun. I really hope these aren't the only two they bring out, I'd love to see some more. Maybe even troop transports, as was posted already in another thread. Long live MDFs! They bring a lot of variety to the battlefield.
Break and fire, or break and ram... i would break and fire usually, but if one swarms the front with E@A'a, it can break, then do 1 dammage to all of them w/o rolling a die.
Sure this thing is slow, and it can break apart if not controlled easily, from swarm, and cheese flingers. The thing is to send this tank in later in the game, rather than going in with the main battleforce. It sometimes isn't worth to set the tank on heavy, as with the extra amount of points, you can get a bunch of figures to back-up the tank, and tie up and swarms coming around the corner. This thing, if it gets to battle in time, and where the Titans and MDF aren't looking, it will be able to destroy the Behemoths and win the game, although with the DSB, it can not be home before dinner.
