I know I have alot of loners, but sometimes that can be a good thing. I picked Sham-rin for here FM capabilities...(yes alas, I too know that she is glass-jawed). I put the boomers in there cus well they are boomers. The Cnt. is in there to be a body guard for the formation. the shade and imp are in there for their usual purposes. The skeleton can be a nice destraction also. Well tell me what you think of my army and what I can do to make it better. Thanks.
Hmm.. Boomers? 9 attack, 3 damage, right? not too shabby. I can't really give you too many suggestions on what to force march with Sham-Rin. I might recommend Axe-Knights, they're pretty schweet.
However, the blue shade, blue imp, and blue skeleton can be reduced. The blue skeleton is just a waste of 5 points, as the yellow is just as distracting. However, in your army, I don't see a skeleton being too useful...
I'd keep the shade (useful little buggers) but drop the imp and the skeleton, use the points to add another boomer. That'll give you enough figs for a ranged formation. That is, if boomers are any good... I got into MK when Whirlwind came out, and have NEVER seen a boomer in anyone's army =)
Remember that Sham-Rin may only have one click of FM, but once she gets the boomers there, she's pretty effective on her own. Command, right? and sweep or something? I think I remember seeing 4 damage.
Ive been thinking for a few days about 1 Boomer or 2 Boomers, even a Steam, with Imp, without Imp, and I have ended up with this final version.
I will use this army in my next big tournament.
3 ranged attackers are compulsory, because a 9 attack wont cut it at the beginning of the match.
The Imp vcan be left out and one Fuser upgraded to a ***Boomer, but the Imp is necessary for the Charger to get safely into Charging range.
The 2 Kruggs are a must, because if you dont have a decent threat in addition to the formation, it will be impossible to manouever into position. Just because the Boomer is moving at 12", that doesnt make it a big fat baddy - a lot of tactics is required, and you better make use of the speed. With only 1 formation, there isnt much tactic to be made, so you need to include some other key figs, like the Kruggs for example.
There tell me what you think now, I originally had the War Hatch in there but didnt put him in and instead put the Cnt. Champ in, but now I reversed it a bit.
Now the Axe Knights have a fellow sweeper, they also help Sham-rin a little more than the Boomers would've. I kept the Leech medic in there for her healing purposes. Imp is in there for easy break away if needed. And yes Sham-rin has c, sweep, and 4 dam. Nice combo for 54 pts.
Well, the question is, whether youre able to make use of all this sweep in a 200 points game. If you can put it into action, you have the ultimate army...if not, theres a lot of points wasted on a 42 point melee unit.
Many on this forum say the Axe-Knights are too expensive, even for a 300 (!).
Do you really need 3 sweepers in there? What are you going to do with them?
I think its lovely, forcemarching those Axe-Knights into battle, but the Boomers are more efficient, perhaps.
Ok, I like to use boomers here, and I am not sure which one of these two versions is better. So I need you all to help me out again, so thank you in advance.
First one.
Form1.
Sham-rin=57pts
3x***BPB=66pts
Loners:
**Shade=16pts
Cnt. Champ=59pts
Or
Second One.(Thanx BrutalDelux)
Sham-Rin=57pts
BPR Boomer***=22pts
(2x)**Khamsin Fuser=30pts
Horned Hatchetkrugg***=44pts
War Hatchetkrugg***=40pts
**Imp=7pts
For the second one I could take the Horned Hatchetkrugg out put another ***War in get 4 more points upgrade one Khamsin to a **Boomer, and possibly take out the imp and upgrade the other **Fuser to a ***Boomer so it would look like this.
Personally I think I like the dynamics of the first one best. I am a BPR fanatic.....and up here people have learned to respect the boomers.....no one respects a fuser.
I also think that for a bodyguard the Centaur Champ is one of the best for his points. He's pretty dynamic overall.
I always have a shade or two as harrassers. They are just a necessity in the game nowadays.
I do like the other formation ideas too. Overall I think that it comes down to which one you are most comfortable playing and which one fits your playingstyle the best. I'm always a bit 'suicidal' so the Boomers being forcemarched right up there works for me.
The fact that the fusers don't get noticed could be a geat selling point. Think of it like this, most people will look at boomers and know theya re a threat, with afuser it is possible that they won't fingure that out until you kill something.
