Ijust got a Solonavi Tormentor. But question is: what will I do with her? can you post any possible armies for her. I just don't want her sitting on the shelf.
The idea is simple launch the solonavi 34" and put b2b with supporting figs, then move up the charger your opponent has to choose what he wants to engage. However do not base any powerful figs instead base as many support figs as possible and make those powerful figs come to you.
I thought of using levitators too. however, I can only put in a Centaur Champion. This is an army I tried using. I won, but I wasn't satisfied with the way it turned out.
I agree with you that the tormentor should not base any power figs, seeing as how easily it can get devoured, especially against rammers like War hatchetkruggs. The dodge is a bonus for me, and I'd rather not factor it in when I make a move. it's just too unpredictable.
One small change I would suggest is to make that impaler a fell reaper for the same 43 points. That gives you a 14 inch flyer to help the tormentor out... for instance say your tormentor's front arc is on a few support figs, well then the fell can block your rear arc to stop those pesky rammers and chargers. He also can break easily to run back to the priest when need be.
The tormentor can kill anything, the reason why I said don't base anyhitng too powerful is that for atleast one turn maybe two the tormentor is all your opponent will have to worry about and that's alot of firepower directed at one fig, so to max tha chance of tormentor walking away be careful what you base.
Yea, I have to put out a word of warning about the tormentor.
I have only fought against one twice, two different people. Both times she was flung out in front. Both times she was dead in two turns.
One rammer and one charger really do damage. Maybe my armies tend to be good against her, but just be REALLY CAREFUL when you fling her out. You may not get her back.
It wasn't played by the most experienced player. He lost the tormentor because of bad play. But it is easy to play this figure badly. You must back her up, or she's gone. The conquest battle had lots of support within 12 inches of her, but I swarmed her and she was gone in no time. He was counting on her venom to hurt me to the point where I couldn't be effective, but formation attacks took care of that nicely.
True, formation attacks hurt and the tormentor needs to be backed up. That's why when I launch her(which will be as soon as I can get Autumn) I plan on putting her b2b with a support fig, without easy break, or two making my opponent come to her and then bringing up the charger which with a high att and vamperism can fend for itself pretty well.
the solonavi tormentor is a house, and I agree with your opinions that she does need full back-up support. My successful play is when i launched her onto some suroks after my scorpem gunner already dealt damage to the magus and his "death star" formation. I kept the magus busy with the centaur champion, and i based it with my techno, giving just enough time for my tormentor to wipe out the support figs. I can't say i played really well since I admit I was lucky with my dodge rolls...
I haven't fought a multi-dialed figure yet, and btw, she got eaten by war hatchett kruggs and Galeshi ram chargers, though of course she dealt a few clicks of venom against them. and I hate those guerilla armies with the striker...
