What's the best way to spend 22 points a faith healer*** or a couple shades. the army has no other healer. I was just wondering;) got a tournament coming up this afternoon
it really depends on your army and your playing style... if they're glassjawed enough... swap one in... if you feel that harassment is the key... put them in.
1) you couldn't fit in "a couple of shades" for 22 points. You'd get one weak shade, one tough imp...and 2 points left over.
2) everyone is correct in saying it all depends on what kind of army it is. This is how I usually work it: Melee army-will be tied up with opposing figs anyway, so they're unhealable. I pick durable melee figs (Blade Golem) and let them have at it. Ranged army-ranged units are typically less durable (excluding the current power uniques) and will not be able to take damage and keep fighting so well, so I like a healer.
I agree with people, we really need to know what kind of army you're going to play with. For example, if you say you're playing a KI melee army, I would say pick the shade and some other small harassers.
If you say "I'm playing a ranged formation and a couple chargers or bounders", the healer is much more interesting and useful, it would fit perfectly IMO.
The decision also depends on your army size. If it's a 200 pointer, go for another attack unit, as you don't have a lot of room as it is. If it's a 300, i'd say go with the healer, as chances are one or two of your units will get lucky enough to get close enough to the healer to get a shot off.
Still, a *** faith isn't a bad fighter in her own right - 9 attack, 2 damage and healing is a fine thing indeed. With most armies, I'd say go with the faith.
For 22 points? I would say you have another choice as well. A **Warrior Sprite.
I like using healers in 300 point, but in 200, I prefer them to have something else besides only healing. A *Shaman, for instance, is only 21 points, can heal with a range of 8, and can provide some Magic Enhancement to your ranged troops.
Just to echo what others have stated, it all depends on the rest of your army...
I guess if your army size is 200 pts. you can use harassers coz you need to utilize every pt. and action and in my experience, Shades and imps are well used in small armies. If you go for 300 pts. you can add up the faith healer coz you have more action and more figure to be healed, well of course you need harassers in armies big or small.
