I've got both. (well, actually, I HAD both. I sold mochooch for needed cash, but since my buddy has him, I still kinda have him.)
Wandering Mochooch comes with 11, 10 and 10 attack, all with 4 damage. Those three clicks also have ram. He has 2 clicks of Battle armor and then 3 of toughness. He's 43 points.
Oombafoo comes with 11, 9 and 8 attack, all with 3 damage. His first FOUR clicks are ram. His first FOUR clicks are toughness. He has 10 inch range. He's 53 points.
Wandering Mochooch has more stable attack and higher damage values, but starts without toughness, a great SA. Oombafoo is more expensive, but has four clicks of ram, more than mochooch. He also has 4 clicks of toughness, and starts with it, allowing him to harass/ram mounted figures in the back arc and not fear. He also has some extremely useful range.
I've come to like Oombafoo more, and find myself adjusting armies to use him instead of Mochooch. This is my 200 point army in which I use him.
I feel this army is very versatile and competes well. However, with the advent of corpheus, HOST-LOST, and Chariot armies, I feel I may need some work. But that's another story.
So which do you like better? Mochooch, or Oombafoo?
hm, i will have to base my opinion on such humble creatures as the war hatchetkrugg and the war impaler as i lack the LEs you have been blessed with ;-)
i prefer the war impaler besause of it's toughness as i think it gives you many more opportunities.
some of them include the use of the higher values of the first clicks, the ability to harrass with no fear of breakaway damage and being able to ignore venom and polearm...
if you play against the usual opponent his log range hitters, e.g. troll atillerists or amotep gunners will inflict 3 damage...which means you can profit from your toughness twice...i like that greatly...
i also have to admit that i compared ombafoo to the war impaler*** and i would prefer the war impaler ;-)
I have used them both in armies and find Oombafoo to be the more versatile figure but Mochooch the more powerful one for his points. Since I never play them with out ML I would rather have 43 pt mochooch and a skeleton* then 53 pts Oombafoo.
The argument seems to be the same with the regular War & Impaler(I think thats what they're called!)....one has range and toughness while the other packs higher damage and attack with BA.
If I know I'll be facing some heavy F/L, Ram, Venom, etc then the Oombafoo would be the choice, otherwise you gotta go with Mochooch.
I've only got Oombafoo (yet), but I would prefer the Wandering Mochooch because of his lower cost and 4 damage.
Although I must say Oombafoo is very good to use thanks too his toughness and the fact that when you ram some fig you can "pin" him, so that if he breaks away you can shoot something else so you're opponent has to base him with something leaving him open to ram damage again ! :D
Oombafoo is also better against a lot of toughness figs then the Wandering Mochooch.
I didn't win them, I recieved them as a thank-you from wizkids for working at a major convention (wizard world chicago). I got lucky in that my randomly-given-to-me le's included them both =)
I would rather use oombafoo to be sure that it can't be ram, cannot be afffected by shake off, venom, and other figs with one damage.:D just my opinion
