Special format within 10 hours, give me advice please!!
Here is a special event that will hold after 10 hours in my local store, please give me advice!!
200 point, unlimited rules
Special rules:
I need a commender with max 30 points. No figure more then 40 points can be used in this special event.
At the beginning of each battle, role 2 dice to decide the special rules
2 City of Doom. No Special ability can be use in this land and all ability of Commander Figure are -1.
3 ¡V 4 Land of Cursed. No ability with Magic can be use in this land
5 ¡V 6 Land of Darkness. Follow all Darkness rule.
7 Plain. No terrain and modify.
8 ¡V 9 Land of Cold. At the beginning of the turn, player roll 1D6 for each figure. One the result of 5, 6 add an action token on the figure and apply pushing damage if there are two token on the figure after that.
10 ¡V 11 Land of Magic All Ability with Magic power are double.
Magic Healing: Heal number of click equal to 2D6
Magic Confuse: Add an arrow to figure with Magic Confuse
Magic Blast: Deal Damage equal to 2D6
Magic Levitation: Move figure up to 20¡¨
Magic Enhancement: Support UP TO 2 Clicks of damage.
Magic Freeze: Target MUST freeze.
Magic Retaliation: Attacker receives 2 Clicks of damage
12 City of Glory. At the beginning of each player turn, each figure is heal by 1 Click. All ability of Commander Figure are +1.
Here is my problem: what type of the army I should use?
Basically I think ML/Ram or Swarm/Charge will be a good choice. They will take advantage in the case 3-6. However the 8-9 Land of Cold condition maybe a big hurt since I have many figures in my army and hence my chance of getting "cold" will be increased.
PmartyC, you are forgetting that at 40 points or less, there is only one figure with higher than 12 range: Longbow Archer. Because of this, 12 range is supremely good, and Amoteps will dominate.
Or so you would think.
The obvious choice for this scenario is KI swarm. Almost all the figures in KI are under 40 points. FM your E@A's right up to the Amoteps and gut them like pigs (a better name for a dwarf).
This scenario might as well read "Play KI Swarm and win."
Most of the things that hose KI swarm are over 40 points.
2: All you lose is Force March.
3-4: Doesn't hurt you.
5-6: Doesn't hurt you.
7: Doesn't hurt you.
8-9: May cause some trouble.
10-11: Doesn't hurt you.
12: How a KI swarm could possibly lose under those conditions is beyond me.
So you don't realistically have to worry about 14" range or exceedingly high defense, and only an 8-9 roll is going to hurt you much at all.
The event was delayed for a few hours, more advice are welcome!!
It seems that the KI swarm(or swarm/charge) is the powerhorse in this event. The KI will have advantage except 8-9, btw, one figures made me annoyed is the Ironclad. with 18 defence and tougness that may cause problem to my charger/eaa, any good solution?
Three other army types that could be fun in this format:
1) Formation or two of Khamsin Peacekeeper with Dwarven Pikemen, Bombards, weak axe knights + a few mancatchers or huntsmen
2) Formation of weak heartseeker or bondmaker or soul stealer with two blue werebears, some red throttle worms, and war hatchetkruggs with a channeler, and two blue fell reapers.
3) Orc swarm w/ tough tribal brutes, taskmaster, and another orc swarm with launchers and snurga OR ten billion goblins with a tough ki devil running around and shockwaving things...
Oh, and I do have a solution to the Ironclad problem... throw in tough centaur lt or two with 11 charge!!
