Some figures are just so fragile and the base is so tightly fixed.
Attempting to click it might break the figure. e.g figures which only have one leg glued to the base.
Is there anything i can do to make the dial easier to turn ? :(
When the first group of figures that have that cross bar bottom come out I spent an hour in my garage working on some ideas and came up with a wooden clicker with a slot that fit on both sides of the bar. Now this is nothing fancy but sanded down and cleaned it has worked well for me.
I like the metal clicker I see some people picked up at one of the conventions and then there is the plastic clicker that works well also. It's cost is about $7.00.
What ever you decide to do a clicker os some kind is need gor these figures. Especially if you have an old style clicker dial and a one footed figure like the Night Fiend.
This is one I am still working on as I don't want to spend the $7.00 for a clicker that I can make on my own.
You can even build a custom handle for it. Ain't lego grand!
As for tight figs that have a normal base, simply pop the two part base apart and slightly file down the plastic tab that sticks up from the lower part of the base. That should free up the movement.
Not only that, but it is fairly cheap, it costs what, about 20¢? I often take of the figure base and reatach it, it doesn't always work well, but it does loosen it some.
For the normal base ones, I just pop top from the bottom and either "spread" the edges on the bottom apart slightly (use your fingers, needle nose pliers..etc...)...or if it is too loose, then I squeeze the edges back in slightly.
You have to be careful not to spread them/ bend the edges open too much, or the dial will be really loose. I've never used the file idea, though it no doubt works fine too.
...and bend that little tab. This has worked EVERY time for me. I have had more than 20 figures with this problem... it's possible that it been more than 30 figures. I know 10 of the were Elemental figures. When you bend it, just don't get carried away! :)
EDIT: BTW. I think the REAL problem with Mage Knight is much larger and wide spread than a simple problem with plastic properties... ;)
