My venue is running week 2 tomorrow, and I was wondering what you guys who already played saw the most of, and if my army will be able to stand up to them.
Here it is:
3 *** Blade Golems 108
2 *** Iron Clads 70
1 * HTH 21
199 points.
Since the darkness rule is in effect, I figured that I wouldn't need to be moving very fast. That and Blade Golems are extremely beasty. What do you guys think?
I played blade golems also - mine didn't do any good though, they kept dying.. luckily the Minnow Warriors that I ran did well enough to make up the difference.
If ML is played a lot in your area I would suggest going with more toughness figs and maybe a charger or two.
ML/ram is very deadl in this format, and ML used defensively, can really put the hurt on an all melee army by waiting until you base something, attacking you with it and then MLing it to safety making you have to rest and then base something else the next turn.
Well, just got back, and I won first place. The first army I faced was a Draconum Guardian army, with Temple Bladesmasters. Through some treachery (short clicking) he ended up killing one blade golem, but I took his whole army. Second round vs my friend's army, which I helped build. He had a Pyre Spirit, with 3 ***Blade Golems and a Volunteer. Many lucky and unlucky turns later, I pulled out a victory, losing I think 2 golems and an ironclad. Third round was against 2 ***Sislith trackers, a techno, magestone lord, a grave robber, and a shaman. Through nice movements and good use of the terrain, I based his guys before he got off 2 shots, and proceeded to dominate. Towards the end I lost a golem and my hacker. What's sad is that towards the end of the game is when the hacker attacked for the first time the whole night, and he rolled snake eyes.
think of it this way - the troll took one for the team.. spent the whole night defending the rest of the army against the swamp beasts - then finally they overwhelmed him, but not in time to stop the rest of your army from going on to take the field.
