Well since my last post went over decently I had a question I wanted the realms opinion about, well more or less how you feel about things:
Do you guyts like the Order of Vladd and Uhlrick, The Uhlrick Charger, Gate Lord, Amazon Huntress and Dwavren Stomper. I enjoy using them all and I use all of them when I can. Just wondering what everyone else thinks.
As I am not a big fan of the necropolis sect I have no opinion on those figs
The huntress is fairly good and with her initial pierce ability and high attack is useful in larger point and conquest games
The stomper is a beast with a fairly good range and atack and a deep dial
The best use I have gotten out of one though was to luck out and pull one in a sealed booster and as a result handily defeat my opponent
* Order of Vladd - As I have heard others say a thousand times, "he is the original, beat stick!" I, like him personally. But I have no play tips for him... only used twice. Once with success! :p
* Order of Uhlrick - Don't have, but I want...:D
* Uhlrick Charger - Kicks Arse! This thing needs more damage though. But I still love it! Charge and Vampirism are a great combo... I prefer toughness over Battle Armor but, we can't have it all... can we?
* Gate Lord - Bow to the Lord..! This thing SLAYS... I have had some success with this figure, but most opponents AVOID IT like the plague. I just don't understand what they are afraid of...
* Amazon Huntress - Better than most people think. Nimble and range are a great match. Also, she has reasonable stats on her dial and is a cute peice of... plastic. :o
* Dwavren Stomper - WOW!!! What a solid center peice. Put your back to a dwarven pikeman or peice of blocking terrain, and take control of a large section of the board! 270 arc with 12" range and 19 D with Toughness... 10 clicks and solid scores. What's not to like..? :)
- Dwarven Stomper - Great piece for the cost. I like to support it with a strong healer and chargers. Great attack, keeps the four damage for life, high defense, toughness, wonderful arc.
- Order of Vladd - When I started playing it was very popular, today it's rare to see one playing. He has a great selection of special abilities, good speed, amazing damage. A great figure for melee fans. I don't use it very often, only when playing single faction games.
- Order of Uhlrick - I don't have it, but it looks interesting. Its first five slots are very good, with either Sneak Attack or Vampirism, high defense against range and decent damage. After four damage, things get nasty. It's not my favorite kind of figure, I would love it if it had toughness though.
- Uhlrick Charger - I like him, but I just can't play him in small games. It's a fun piece to play with in 500 points games or bigger IMHO.
- Amazon Huntress - Never played her, but the pierce + good attack makes her interesting. Could try it someday. Perhaps I haven't tried her yet due to the nimble and magic retaliation abilities, which pump the cost a lot and don't offer much IMHO.
- Gate Lord - It's a tough nut to crack, fun piece. In big games it works nicely riding the KI Chariot, or with multiple levitators to make a huge mess attacking small formations or support units. I really like it.
second if you like playing with those figs keep playing with them, some of them are really great figs others need a lot of tactics to be played right.
the NS (Necropolis Sect) figs are heavy in the melee and since they're expensive need really good play to shine.
the Order of Vladd is a great piece and has loads of What I believe 1 of the best abilities for melee figs: vampirism !
the Amazon huntress has the best use of the nimble ability.
the Dwarven stomper is a better Steam golem and the Steam golem is one of the best non-unique ranged/melee figs.
the Gate lord is a beast in close combat and since Minions there are a lot more LI figs to get him where he wants to be without getting shot.
I'd say it depends on your playing style. Some people prefer to have big powerful ranged pieces while others rely on finess to win the fight.
Huntess: Pretty good. 12", nimble, and pierce allow it to keep an eye on any enemy w/in a 12" radius. Spin for free, shoot something, and spin back.
Order of Vladd: a bit too expensive for my tastes. He is pretty fast, but after just 2 clicks, his damage value goes from 5 to 3. Plus it can't vampirism back to full health.
Uhlrik Charger: A great piece, but too expensive in my opinion. If its damage value stayed at 4 for a few clicks more, it would have been an excellent piece. I'd opt for the Golen Orb Mirmydon: great damage values and speed (plus Command) for 86 pts. (as opposed to the Uhlrik Charger's 118 pt. cost)
Order of Uhlrik: Those 8 click sneak attacks can be devastating for an unprepared adversary. I also like the fact that it can vampirism back to its sneak attack slots. The 18 defense w/ BA also makes it harder to hit at a distance. Command is an added plus.
Stomper: 12 range w/ a 270 arc is an excellent addition to its already deep dial. High attack, defense, toughness, and a lot of damage 4 slots make it an excellent choice for those who like raw firepower. Plus its 94 pt cost isn't too exhorbitant.
Gate Lord: If you can afford it, go for it. It can sweep w/ its 180 arc and deal 5 clicks to multiple foes. It's also pretty hard to take down.
- Dwarven Stomper: One of my favorite ranged figures. I've used it in every one of my BPR armies since the day I got it. I've been having fun backing it up with Autumn and a few Pikemen and Detonating Zombies.
- Order of Vladd: Melee fatty, worthless due to easy break figures.
- Order of Uhlrick: Melee fatty, worthless due to easy break figures.
- Uhlrick Charger: Nice charger. Big bucks in points, but almost all chargers are worth considering since charge is a top SA.
- Amazon Huntress: Pretty good figure but not to my style of playing.
- Gate Lord: Good in chariot, otherwise useless do to being a melee fatty.
