i kno no 1 uses Jess but my brother likes playing corpheus and i usually man handle him when i plaqy Jess Blacklock striker combo but i still have trouble against sum other players at my venue soo any help would be appretiated thank u
the army goes like this
Jess Blacklock lvl4 62pts ( i use him at level 4 for his LI so he in unable 2 be hit by range attackers)
solonavi striker 112pts
autum lvl2 34pts
sisthlith traker**47pts(i only have a standard but if i had a tough i would use it)
astrus lvl3 44pts
ok basic strategy is sit striker in where he gets a good shot on almost all the figs send Jess right up close and personal with the biggest range unit my openent has then block his range until i can shoot w/out pushing then i fire with jess in the mean time i will be softening up the other figs with striker moving astrus int contact with striker healing when needed and yo yoing the sisthith w/atumn until i soften or kill most of there big guns or heavy hitters then i move in and destroy w/e i can in the time i have left i still need a little help seeing as how iam a little new at playing aqnd not as experienced as sum of u greater folk but i soon hope 2 gian enough experience and talent soo i may help out sum people well any help is appreiated thank you
very interesting... I've been thinking about Jess for a while... I've debated using him at level 4 or 5, because the necro might be really handy. In any case, you NEED a charger with good range, or maybe 2 of them, because to be effective, Jess has to be close in range, and he WILL be based by something at some point. He has to have a charger to get it off his back. I'd drop the tracker, because he's not gonna help Jess a whole lot when something is base to base with him.... put in a horned krugg or something like that. now, on to point 2 of Jess Blacklock.... 3 targets. you'll want something to enhance him, and I can't think of anything better than a couple phookas to do it. But it's late and I'm not thinking right... I'm glad to see you had the originality to post something with Jess in it, I hope it works out, as he is a really cool figure in my opinion.
i'm not too fond of Phookas. they're just too slow. they'd only Jess less effective. yes, Hurgg looks like a better choice, but i he still has only 8" move. so i came up with a crazy idea.
why not use a formation of a **War Bard, and two charging KI mounteds. or a variation could be a **War Bard, a ***Faith Healer, and a charging KI mounted. at least you'll have a good bodyguard close by, an enhancer that moves as fast as Jess, and a healer in case he's hit.
Hehe. Ok then billy. How about throwing in level 5 Sham-rin and give them all forced march and a sturdy polearm/sweep fig that does 4 or 3 damage with an intermingled 2 that flares back up to three with berserk? :) Might provide a bodyguard for Jess. Position her right and anyone who bases with Jess has to base with her aswell and get polearmed then thwacked or better yet captured?

Hmm. Maybe toss in a * Light Cavalier mounted fig as a 7 inch, bounding, weapon master loner body guard for the team? Only 28 points though. Perhaps a * Troll Arti to benefit from barber and do 4 damage?
Maybe a nice 200 point combo?
A formation... of Heroes... I like :) Barber Hurgg is probably superior..... Jess can stand in front of him and block LOS and still get enhancement, nice... ha ha, now we can add Autumn and Avante Reaver to make it a party?
I find it hard to believe noone else has recognized the brilliancy of Sham-rin! Polearm stops charge, good-damage sweep pounds the SAs out of little groups, and a 12 inch FM makes her a beast of a group leader. (Except in dungeons. FM SUCKS in dungeons. Yay! +1 movement. Wow. A whole extra square of movement before I attack.) But her sweep kicks ### in dungeons :)
Sham-rin is a fairly good fig. but she has her weaknesses too. you wouldn't really use a charger against Sham-rin. that'd be a waste. but if you use a rammer, on the other hand, now that's a good idea. Not only does Sham-rin lose FM, she also is able deal only three damage. and she can only sweep figs in her 90-degree front arc. ram her on either side and she'll have to choose only one fig to attack.
now is Sham-rin the best bodyguard for Jess? that's debateable. rammers would surely be running after Jess. after all, he only has one slot of LI. is the one click of damage from Sham-rin's Polearm enough to discourage rammers. my answer is probably not.
Sham-rin is a good fig, but she's not absolutely brilliant (at least not from a MK Rebellion perspective).
Big deal. Ram armies. That's why you've got barber to simply heal her again. You can ram her what? 3 times let's say? Barber can heal 3 automatically :) Besides, I'm sick of hearing about Ram armies. Yawn yawn boring. Let's try and come up with something more creative. Anyway, So what? A toughness army could ream a ram army any day. And, I think a hero formation might fare pretty well against a toughness army so it all equals out :)
Besides, as long as we're doing heroes, throw in Autumn and send a bounder after the technomancers or throw in some harassers. These three figs werent meant to be a whole army, just 1 formation :)
just because you're sick of hearing about Ram armies, doesn't make them disappear. it doesn't make them less effective either.
i was only trying to be helpful by pointing out that Ram is the number one problem of LI.
now, to CLEAR UP some of your more relevant points:

uhhh... no? Sham-rin has to break away from the rammers first. i don't know about Dungeons, but this is MK Rebellion Rate & Review. we follow Rebellion rules here. and in those rules, you can't Heal or Magically Heal a fig in base contact with an opposing fig.
also, healing using the printed damage value only applies to the Healing ability. unfortunately, on Barber Hurgg's healing slots, he only has one damage. it's his 1st Magic Healing slot where he has 3 damage. so he can't heal 3 clicks automatically. you have to roll the die just like everyone else.

hasty assumption. i say it depends, because there are a lot of factors involved. there's the armies themselves, the players' strategies, and luck.

bounders? the longest yo-yo range i've seen is 18 inches. that is what you plan to use Autumn for, right? the ML/Ram engine (which wasn't what i was talking about) would be around 20 inches away.

L5 Sham-rin (57) + L4 Jess Blacklock (62) + Barber Hurgg = 140 to 171 pts. yes, it's not the whole army, but it sure is a big chunk of it. and that big chunk is easy to Ram.
again, Sham-rin is a fairly decent bodyguard. but the best bodyguard would still probably be a charger.
ArcticFox, i didn't tell Chazbo to turn this army into a Ram army. i only tried to get him prepared for them. because whether you like to hear about them or not, he's still going to face them eventually. i hope you understand.
I have a similar army with the Stomper in place of the Striker and a Rammer and a Charger to go along with Blacklock. Astrus L3 or Krugg Seer round it out.
thanx billy i will try and prepare my army a little more 4 ram but 1 question for deluxe why stoimper over striker?? both toughness striker has more range and moves/breaks away quicker so why stomper??? just my thought that i would want striker over stomper any day
