I decided to attempt to make any army that can compete with the big bound without following suit. The best way I think of stopping big shooters is to never give em a target, so I packed in tons of LI to block lines of fire as best I could. The one biggest problem I have is if I have LI I dont have toughness. So when dealing with ML/Ram you have play reactivly till you get a shot at their ML or rammer, and then hit them harder than they can hit you. Other than that or a chariot (which we don't see around here much) I think it might fare pretty well.
The baron and Windy shoot while the shadows and krugg engage what I can't shoot at or don't want to get set up to fling things at me. Autumn helps me with flinging to get my chargers or rammers where they need to go faster and helps the protector keep units healed up.
As far as terrain I'm not sure what would be the best but prolly some hindering to clog things up where you want to pick your fights.
nice... i was thinking of something similar to this... but i thought putting both ZB and WM together isn't practical... i'd rather have just one of them and fill in on another fig like a fell reaper *** and some other fillers... but playtest and post results... :)
This kind of army is always a blast to play, and frequently you can get the jump on many players with it. The problem is that it has enough weaknesses that it won't be seen winning any major tournaments. While it can surprise several players, you lack the raw firepower to take down a GFD in 50 minutes. A well-played ML/Ram would give you fits. Also -- and this is probably the biggest of your problems -- most most big-bound armies pack a levitator and rammer. Consequently, you could very well have your shadows and crystal protector knocked out of LI and killed by the very army this is designed to beat.
