Hello, my pal and I are 1st timers on the game and we've been playing the game for a couple of weeks, but we have probably several stupid questions, but like my father says, the stupid question is the one that you don't ask, so here they are:
1. Ranged Combat
On a ranged combat, does my front arc have to cover THE ENTIRE dial of the oposing figure that I want to attack or it's enough if my line of fire crosses a part of my oponent's dial.
2. Spins
When can one spin? We know we get a free spin on the approach of an opossing figure to face it, but when after that? only when you move?
3. Formations...
To call it a formation you need to have 2 or more figures of the same faction or is it 3 or more. And second, and this is i think the most complex one, my pal has my Stone Golem crushed with his two Utem, a gardsman and a crossbowman, i fail to escape but on my second move i choose to move my Toll Brawler to the rear arc of the crossbowman, does this brake my pal's formation?
Line of fire must be straight line, center dot to center dot,
passing through attacker's front arc
except for shockwave which will target all figs in range
close combat formation = 2 or 3 figures of same faction
ranged combat formation = 3,4, or 5 figures of same faction
your opponent's formation does NOT exist during your turn,
formations only act as a formation when using an action,
they are individuals at any other time
Re 2: You get a Free Spin if an opposing figure (without the Sneak Attack Special Ability) comes into base contact with your figure. Otherwise you must use a move action to spin. You may spin a non-mounted, non-Multidial figure on a failed breakaway attempt. (This is known unofficially as an "Expensive Spin".) There are also other considerations regarding spinning, which is relatively complex in comparison to some MK concepts. A Free Spin does not constitute "movement" for purposes of, e.g., taking Pole Arm damage or inflicting Ram damage, but an Expensive Spin does. Furthermore, even figures that are prevented from taking Free Spins do inflict Pole Arm damage following the "free spin opportunity" when an opposing figure comes into contact with them.
Re 3: Although your opponent does not have a "formation" during your turn, moving your TB to base his Crossbowman in no way prevents him from declaring his figures as a formation for his next turn.
I believe all the other questions you asked were answered by vpctek.
That's the idea. It's a good game and I'm happy to see new players take it up. Keep coming around and learning and before long, you will be a resource yourself. :)
