In my area there has been a sudden uprise of ML/Ram and Amozon Dracs so I had to make an army that can handle these and the other arhetypes out there.
LONERS(no formations)
2x *** Scorpem gunner(47 each)
1x *** Nightmare Reaper(42)
1x * Nightmare Reaper(40)
1x lvl 5 Carlana(74)
1x ** Solonavi Channeeler(41)
1x * Armored Skely(I need 9 points and he fit it)
=300
This is for Week 4 but we decided to change the rules some, 300pts 150 points must be for your side(mine is necro)
vs. Amozon Drac: 1 nightmare reaper and 1 scorpiom gunner run up the side of the board on each side presenting the drac with too many targets for it to handle. Carlana and the Channeler go up the middle with the Channeler staying out of harms way but read to heal if neccesary.
vs. ML/Ram: Keep the Gunners and Channeler out of harms way while the reapers and carlana advance to it, the reapers have toughness and my WL ruled that pole arm stops ram before it happens. Once the flinger is gone my gunners can come up and play sweep up.
vs. other stuff: either use the amozon drac one and present too many targets for it or use the ML/Ram one and attack in waves. but either way the channeler goes sorta stright up the middle so she always can heal if needed.
good army and good strategies. if being 299 wouldn't hurt you too much, i'd suggest dropping the skellie for a *** imp. i'd rather be one point under, but still get use out of all my figs, than to be right at the limit, but ignoring one of my figures. of course, action wise, you probably wouldn't do much with the imp anyway...
unfortunately, though, ram and pole arm don't interact the way you're thinking, or your warlord ruled... pole arm inflicts one damage and then ends the current action and ram inflicts one damage at the end of the current action. there's no conflict there. i believe i saw a thread on this in the rules forum here.... but it could've been on the wizkids forum...
I didnt put a *** imp for 2 reasons, 1.) like you said it already takes a full 2 turns to move 2.) Dont have a *** one. If I could get my hands on another *** Nightmare Reaper I could add a **imp and then upgrade the * to a *** nightmare reaper
On the ram thing, I thought that is how it goes but they ruled as is so we play like that. (which is why I put in there my WL's ruleing on the matter.)
This army could do well against ml/ram since the reapers do a good job although i would be weary since if the ml/ram army has good terrain placement it can hinder you while they go from your weaker figs but that still shouldn't be the worst
although against the amazon drac army its gonna be harder than you think (I think) since the reapers and gunners are to fragile against 5 dmg with pierce so he will hit u once with the drac and send other troops to probly kill it like even man catchers could be devastating
so to make ur army more viable against a drac army i would take the carlana (the P.arm doesn't work v ram) and a scorpem gunner to and the skel to add in a striker toughness handles ram flame=scorpem big range to handle drac thyen u got 22 ptns which u can use to put a ***warrior sprite in which can help tons against pesky cheese
I would use that Weavel expect for this:
1.) Dont have a striker
2.) dont have a warrior sprite
3.) That doesnt have 150pts of necro figures
and if I didnt have to have 150 points of necro I would probly drop the carlana, armord skely, and another 4 points from something to add in a pyre spirit.
and its also for week 4 which has no terrain, and I'm not to interseted in capatureing the figure.
with the solonavi channeler and the skeleton you have 50 points
my suggestion is :
put out nightmare reaper , change for war hatched ***
then autum for 34 and a blue shade or a Ama Mancatcher *
with these figures you will have great opportunities.
for example a formation comes towards you. it is marked. now autumn levitates carlana next to the formation . now the opponent has to choose. either carlana strikes with 4 dam or he attacks gets 1 dam and another dam from long weapon.
then next round carlana does venom. his bud is kicked already.
Just so everyone knows, this army killed a corphy army (it had corphy, lvl1 autumn, crystal protecters, and troll artys). I competley annilated him and only lost a Nightmare Reaper
I goofed up in one game or I would have comptely killed him too( I had the EGM based with my Carlana and forgot to attack, very big goof up.). That army was Lich, 2 Troll Artys EGM, Ram Warrior, and a few more things. Lost a Nightmare REaper only.
Round 3 I played one of the thoughest people in the tourny it lost but it gave a run for its money. It was a zombie baron, WHK, faith healer and Sislth Trackers. I had a hard time pining it down. Lost both Nightmare Reaper's, a gunner and I think that was it.
It gave a good run for its money non the less. I placed 1 1/2 in tourny because the guy I played round 3 and me had to play again and we didnt feel like it so we just split the pot.
