I created this army to be fun to play and to capitolize on the lack of OSTs in my area. I also wanted to be original, and the first way I could think of was using Sunbane lvl. 3 as my passenger (no, I don't have the Jarl hero, and if somebody else thought of using Sunbane before me, then scratch the original part). He has toughness, 4 damage, 11 attack, and 10 range (which is only reduced by 2 when he's a passenger). Therefore, when compared to Lord Oren (the only other viable passenger option I have), who is 1 point more expensive, he only lacks sweep, but makes up for this lack with other abilities. I also wanted to make this melee heavy in order to present me a challenge against the range heavy archetypes dominant currently. Here it is:
I do realize that this will have an extremely hard time against OSTs, but as I said, they don't exist in my area. The two chargers flank the Ram and the Fell flies ahead to tie up ranged units and support. The Crystal Protector is mostly there as a points filler, but she can heal if I REALLY need to. The Fell and the chariot are immune to ram. If my opponent decides to ram one of the chargers, I'll break away and do shake-off damage if he is out of my front arc, and if he's not, I'll double-ram with the chariot (by lining up the lines on the front. Then I would attack with Sunbane, and follow-up with an attack with the charger if he's in my front arc. I believe this army can function extremely well against most situations, and I will try to test it soon. Please don't review this with my downfall being hard-to-get-ultra-rare LEs because we don't have them down there (aka Bakus). Thanks in advance,
Thanks. Yeah, our venue didn't start tournaments (or we didn't start going) until after that february campaign, so nobody has him. You're right, it is fast and mobile. I don't think that a bounder would be good, since the whole army relies on getting to base, so a bounder would be useless once the battle "started". Any other comments/suggestions?
I'm very partial to the KI charger, so I would probably change to it and stick in an imp*. The KI Charger is very fast and cuts your movement actions down by 1 (has quickness on the front dial) and still has toughness on the side dials for 101pts
Yeah, I am partial to the Charger too, but I don't own one, and I wanted to try something new. I don't care about the extra actions that much, and the ability to double ram is great. Plus the Ram is sturdier and has invulnerability on the back for added protection. I don't think * Imps would be a good idea, because they are weak and not fast enough to keep up with the 12-14" movers in the army. If I wanted harrassment, I would make Sunbane lvl. 3 become a Lord Oren lvl. 3 and make the * Crystal Protector become a * Shade.
