Basically make the Orcs come to me, Stall them with the CP's then blast with the Demi's. The Rivven and Elven Recruits are the melee support for The Demi's. The man catcher is a threat to capture anything that gets seperated.
Well I'm seeing problems. The Demi magus will fall like dominos once the enemy gets into base contact with them.
You might want to replace some of the demis with Magestone Lords. They attack higher and do more damage in close combat. (still retaining the Magical blast ability)
Also using one of those big KI mounted with charge might be better support for demis than the KI weenies. He'll get the first strike if if the blasters get based.
Remember if you use the KI mounted you'll have to keep the healer safe. The KI mounted will have a big target on it and will take a lot of damage. You'll be needing some healing.
Terrain placement is the key. you've got to get blocking in the right positions.
I'm certainly not a 200 point MK expert so take all my opinions with a grain of salt.
Stronger figs would be good but if you want to work with that army you should put the Demi-maguses behind one of the towers with the melee support on the side to prevent enemies from getting the them. You should try to switch your Crystal Protecters for another Mancatcher or some other fig with quickness.
Bob's got the right idea. The Demi's aren't the best main range formation, I would take his suggestion and go with Magestone Lords. Taking a KI Mounted piece as opposed to the formation you proposed would be an exellent step as well.
While your formation certainly would annoy the enemy, it lacks real hitting power, with no attacks above 7, and reliance upon the Rivvenguard's weaponmastery.
If you're only using the Crystal protectors as blockers for the Magestone Lords, then i'd suggest using Imps or shades, as they're cheaper and faster than the Protectors. The Mancatcher is a nice touch, but if you're planning on fighting against orcs, won't they all have Battle Fury (although i suppose that there will be the guy that plays with 1 * volunteer and 195 points of something else). So, Here (keeping the theme) is what i would use.
** Magestone lord x3 90
*** Elite Surok Apprentice 22
* Heavy Lancer x1 35
* Shade x2 24
** Centaur Medic x1 29
The Magestone Lord formation gets enhancement from the Surok, and can hold its own in ranged and melee combat, while the heavy lancer can either hang back and support the ranged formation, or strike out on its own as a heavy harasser. The shades serve to tie the enemy down for little points loss on your part, and the Medic gives you an excellent mobile healer.
(note: this army also moves quickly in a double-turn).
Thank you all for the input. My idea was to use the terrain especially the tower to hide behind and let the orc player come to me. Using the terrain and the LI of the Crystal protecters to keep the orc players figs at 10" range should give me at least 3 MB attacks in 2 turns doing 5-10 damage per hit. That should cripple/kill 3 figs. then I'll send in the rivven/ Elven Recuit group to pin the figs in place and continue MB with any actions I have available.. . I'll probably not go with this army after reading the suggestions though. Most of your suggestions on what to chang ethe figs to, such as Magestone Lord and ESA I don't own any. I was just going to try something different but, I think I'll probable go with something more in line with my Hord of KI units. Probably E@A's, RivvenG's, or maybe the Tank with a Guardian Drac and Hvy Cavaliers/Heavy Lancers. Back to the drawing board. Thank you again for the comments folks.
