I'm trying to use only single faction armies for the down times between campaigns, and this week I'm using necro. So here is my 300 point necro army!!!!!!
Therenody is the main attacker in formation with the Priest and Reaper, and the 3 Bloodsuckers are also in a formation. Reaper protects Therenody, and vice versa. The Bloodsuckers really help to take down semi big figures without toughness, especially after they've moved. What do you guys think???????
You can't use Therenody in formation unless you turn off her bound/charge(can't remember which she has). This would just limit her playing ability by about half. I do like the rancid bloodsuckers though. They are a pretty good melee piece rarely talked about.
Drop the Det. Zombie and the Imp. Neither one will help this army, since both will be left behind due to slow speed.
Then, upgrade the Nightmare Reaper to a ***Fell Reaper. Therenody is already a better charger than the Nightmare, so you may as well gain the extra damage and toughness that a Fell can bring you. Flight doesn't hurt either.
This will leave you with 16 points. Add a **Shade. Then, I would build the formations differently.
Formation:
3 x ***Rancid Bloodsucker
**Corrupted Priest
Loners:
Therenody
***Fell Reaper
**Shade
Now you can move the whole army in one turn, and at a speed of 10. You have a strong Charger in Therenody, and a couple of good harrassers with the Fell and the Shade. I would keep the Fell and Therenody supporting each other, and have the Shade support the Bloodsucker formation.
I really don't like the Fell Banshees as much as either of the Reapers because they're almost 50 points with the same attack and damage as the Det. Zombie.
1. Gotta get a Zombie baron
2. A stiletto would be nice
3. Anything on a Nightmare
My friend just got a Theranody last thursday and he really isn't that good. I levatated a detonating zombie into Theranody's rear (via Zombie baron :) ) then captured is the next turn with a 6. His defense is so low its really not worth his 75. He's good, but i wouldn't use it in a 300 point game. Good Luck.
Capturing is the one major problem I can see with him, which is why I have a Corrupted Priest and a Nightmare Reaper. The CP has the defend, and the Reaper can be a good little bodyguard and get rid of the capturing figure.
