Well, a couple of issues came up on my last battle. People in the venue had split opinions so we decided to get it in black and white from someone who knows better. Here are the questions:
1. Magic Confusion: Can a figure under the influence of Magic Confusion make a Charge (move and melee attack) or a Bound (move and range attack) against a figure in its own army? For instance, a Mindshifter targets a Thunderdoom Troll in an EL army. Can then the Troll make a charge and attack a figure in its own EL army?
2. Command: An erratum giving command on a roll of 5 and 6 was mentioned. I have no knowledge of such an erratum existing. Is the 5 AND 6 valid or the old 6-roll valid?
3. Ranged Attacks: Do you gain a +1 to hit when performing a ranged attack on a figure's rear arc? Once again, I have no knowledge of this being a rule, but people were using it.
Well... I can't answer 1, but for 2, they're thinking of the other clix games. It's still only on a six that you get an extra action. And for 3... Shades of Mechwarrior. They're confused, and wrong. You don't get an extra +1, ever, for shooting through the back arc.
Charge & Magic Confusion - An opposing figure with Charge that is successfully hit by a Magic Confusion attack cannot be used to attack figures friendly to itself. In addition, a player may not target his or her own figures with a damaging attack. See the Unlimited rulebook, page 7, “Targeting Friendly Figures”.
In effect, the only ways to use a Magically Confused figure with Charge to make an attack is:
In a game with 3 or more players, it could be used to attack opposing figures that aren’t owned by the player that is moving it.
the old e and r said that the only way that MC allows an attack is if 1) the person being hit by it for gets to turn off charge/bound (which they can do before the resolution of the attack.
2) a third player is in charge/bound range. You can not change the alleigince of a piece during the game so it can't attack its own friendlys.
of course if for some reason you wanted to bound heal their piece and the bound was not turned off you could do that.
