So if you use some figs to ME a fig with SW and MF, do then the figs that are applying the ME get affected and get damage and tokens?
Or is this just not possible (let alone not smart)
thanks,
Bob
p.s. I guess for all thoughs that wanted a suicide bomber, well not exactly to himself, but surround Ember with 6 Shamen and BOOOM!! If you really wanted to kill that many shamen.
Since any figures in the area of a Shockwave attack have any special abilities "turned off," Mage Enhancement does not work on any figure with Shockwave & Magic Freeze.
Note that there is a very specific case where Shockwave can be enhanced. However, than only works with a mounted figure with Shockwave (and a piece of blocking terrain) & there are no such figures with both Magic Freeze & Shockwave at this time.
I don't understand where it says you turn SA's off, I know it will affect a fig with stealth and LI, but will it turn BA off too? I don't think that the rule is saying that the targets have no SA's before the attack and I think Magic Retaliation still applies after the attack is successful.
So then I think that ME would work on the MF+SW fig (ember and wolfwitch) and the answer is that yes ME would deliver damage and tokens to the ME figs, and quite possibly killing or rendering them useless.
Then if you kill them, does your opponent get the points for those kills for the win?
Originally posted by Gemetzl actually ember and wolfwitch has MF and SW.
Yes, but they aren't mounted. To be able to enhance a Shockwave attack the attacker can't be a effected by the Shockwave. So, the enhancer needs to have blocking terrain between it & the center dot of the Shockwave figure, while remaining in base contact. That's only possible with a Mounted Shockwave figure.

This warrior’s ranged combat attack can affect every figure within half his range value.(Optional) Give this warrior a ranged combat action. Reduce his range value by half. Draw lines of fire to every non-captive figure (friendly and opposing) within range in every direction, regardless of this warrior’s front arc facing. These lines of fire are never blocked by figure bases, but are affected normally by terrain. If clear lines of fire can be drawn to two or more figures within range, Shockwave will inflict 1 click of damage on each figure successfully hit. If there is only one eligible figure within range, Shockwave will deliver this warrior’s normal damage if that figure is successfully hit. Lines of fire are drawn to figures, and the attack is resolved, as if the target figures have no special abilities (Aquatic is not affected). Shockwave allows you to attack opposing figures even if they are in base contact with friendly figures, and/or control captives.
Technically, they aren't "turned off" (it's just a faster to refer to it that way). However, the attack is resolved as if the figures have no special abilities. Since, Magic Enhancement is a special ability, if they are a target, you have to treat the attack as if they don't have it.
That same line also applies to Battle Armor, Toughness, Invulnerability, Magic Retaliation, Defend, etc.
BA and invul will not provide their usual ranged attack bonuses, Invul and Tough will not reduce the damage taken, MR will not be triggered, you cannot dodge it, etc.
Defend will only work if the defender is out of the SW's blast radius. Otherwise, it too is ignored.
Actually, it can also work if the MEr is mounted. Shockwave ignores EVERYTHING. For pete's sake, that's why goblin grenadiers as so cool, good bye dodge, good bye invulnerability!
so i understand that for it to work using a mounted fig is because of the length of the mounted fig and the dot is out of range of the shockwave yet the fig is in base contact through the wall.
i'll check that base contact through terrain part again.
shockwave just went way up in my book, wow!
this game never gets old, everyday you learn a new trick.
Actually, the trick with ME for a mounted figure is to have the ME figure based with the side of the rear of the SW figure, with the blocking terrain feature between the two center dots (kind of around the corner.) I think Altan came up with this one way to use ME and SW at the same time.
USe ME with SW is great too. hehe. Make a V valley and you can have SW for 3 clicks! Its grand. Theronedy....I love ya! but you know in a very manly way.
Any figure which is effected by the Shockwave attack will be as if it didn't possess Magic Enhancement. As Magic Enhancement requires you to be in base to base with the Shockwave figure, they are targets.
You would have to use the very difficult to use trick outlined above to make it happen at all. Routing two or three figures doing that at once should be impossible.

Since you are required to have a minimum 2" spacing between terrain features you would not be able to set this up effectively. Sorry.
