I've read (if i don't understand wrong) that using magic healing on a figure in base contact is still a ranged action, so my paladin priest can heal 2 figurea at 1 time...
it's right?
if it's right my priest can come back in my army, because i don't need to choice if using ME+defend or double healing, i can make all the thing same time... my *troll gunners are now very interesting to play :)
Yes because technically there is still a distance between the center dots (points) of 2 figs that are in base contact w/each other so it could still be a range attack(magic healing). So you can heal both, lets say 2 Troll gunners that are in base with you Paladin Priest. Just be sure that they are still inside the Paladin's front arc coz you are still doing a range action upon healing the Trolls.
Quote from the FAQ: Magic Healing & Multiple Targets: Magic Healing may be made against multiple targets if the warrior with Magic Healing has more than one range arrow. If a Magic Healing attack successfully hits more than one target, the die roll to determine how many clicks the figure is healed is rolled separately for each figure.
Since Magic healing may be done at close combat, multiple target healing at close combat may also be performed, at least as the way it has been interpreted to me.
The distance between the dots has nothing to do with Magic Healing. Magic Healing follows all of the normal rules of a ranged combat action. So you would do the same checklist.
1) I'm not in base to base contact with an enemy figure? Check.
2) My targets are not in base to base with enemy figures? Check. (Normally it's the other way around, but this is a healing attempt.)
3) Figure(s) are all within my arc of fire? Check.
4) My targets lie within my range value. Check. There is no limit against how close a figure may be to the healer.
5) Roll 2d6 and add your attack value. Compare this against the defence value of the target figure(s). (Note, special abilities are still valid. Magic Immunity for example. Battle armor also still works, it's just pointless because it's +2 is ignored by healing.)
6) Any 'struck' figures are healed 1d6 clicks of damage. (Damage values are reduced to 1, luckily this is healing and can be ignored).
Ta-da!!
It's still a ranged combat action, so you still have to obey other issues that might effect them. Can't Magic Heal that Stealth figure in hindering terrain, for example.
